Sue Report 31 Aug 2009 22:27

Absolutely nothing :-)

I saw too many acquaintances get into trouble. None of my close friends from childhood have touched anything other than tobacco either.

Sue (who takes heaps of prescribed drugs now...lol)

Uzzi, I don't think whacky tobacky leads to hard drugs physically but some people who may have an addictive personality may be tempted to try other drugs or drink or even gambling.

Jane yes I can imagine but will not explain why ( Yet )

UzziAndHerDogs Report 31 Aug 2009 22:31

Suemaid I never have believed it either, regardless of the reports. I have always found that those who got addicted to hard drugs never really started on the wackey but jumped straight away to H or what ever

there is no such thing as a 'safe' drug, addictive or otherwise it has a long term effect ... even for those who don't use often. The trouble is it doesn't 'show' in the same way as acid lines or a burnt away nose or lying in the gutter blind drunk.

SueM good for you, but do you feel right t tell others not to touch.

Jane Report 31 Aug 2009 22:34

LOL Uzzi .I saw the effect (not in my cat) but in my friends lol.I have to say I would have liked to have tried things, but never had the guts.Thank god I was gutless ,cos I think I would be the type of person who would have not found it easy to give up ,had I started down that route.

I'm not sure about this, folks

I lost my brother to an overdose of methadone when he was just 30.

A clever guy, a practising solicitor - and he tried so hard to get off his heroin habit he'd acquired at Uni

But, in the end, he died alone.

I very much doubt he thought "I've never tried anything stronger than coffee ........ oh, good idea, here's a dragon ready for the chase"

So, for some of us - addictive personalties probably - the price is too high.

Muffyxx Report 31 Aug 2009 22:40

Most of my friends in my late teens had a puff every now and again.......and not one took anything stronger than that !!! so in my experience it doesn't lead to anything stronger.

I guess we were happier and more comfortable in the *pub* culture ultimately ......having a few drinks..... than we were in the *club* culture when e's and all that were so available.

I haven't had a joint since I was about 23......wouldn't have the stuff in the house with the kids about now either......but I'm not ashamed of my experimenting.......just glad I didn't try anything else.

When the time comes I guess I'll hold my hands up to it and admit it to my kids........but I really don't see it as a big deal as in the scheme of things.............I'd obviously rather my girls didn't drink, smoke, have a puff or have sex til they're at least 30 (lol) but realistically they'll have a dabble with things and the fact that I'm human and have been there to see the signs and guide them through won't be a bad thing ultimately imho xx

sorry Julie, ( shit must put the spliff out lol ) I did take on board your comments but I have to own up that I had no answer.

My apology I should have said that at the time

It might be time for me to bow out of this one Uzzi :)) I am quite 'definite' in my opinions on it and don't want to upset anyone. We all make our own choices in the end,

as far as what I tell my son goes...I tell him I haven't personal experience of what drugs might or might not do to me, but tell him what I have seen them do to others.and that I hope I never have to see drugs do the same to him.

Sue

Sue Report 31 Aug 2009 22:46

I wouldn't presume to tell an adult what to do or not to do but if drugs came up in conversation with youngsters then I would just relate one experience.

A close friend was almost beaten to death (I didn't even recognise her when she knocked on my door at 2 a.m.) Her drug fuelled OH had just found out she had flushed his supply. A few of us had to smuggle her out of Spain so she could receive medical treatment in the UK and get away from him.

Not an experience I would ever forget.

Jane goodnight we will see if the thread is still here later

Suzian what you share here can only help others, if it helps I lost my exBIL to an overdose (Suicide) and my friend to an accidental one. Not sure what was better the overdose or the friend of OH who hung himself.
I actually love dragons and collect them but I have never ever chased one

Rose I am well aware of your opinions and the way your thoughts lie.
I do not have a problem of you putting in your two an half pence worth cos I believe you have a lot of sense to say. So go for it.
