Fingers crossed that your Dad is well enough to go home today. Possibly the strain of the scan brought on the angina attack. Sending him lots of positive thoughts for a good recovery so that he can enjoy his life again. A non physical part in bowling will keep his mind active and he will feel he is still part of it all.

Just popped in to see how dad is doing. Very alert of him to call for the nurse for the man next to him. Thinking of all concerned

My dad is still in hospital, I have been suprised at the use of mobile phones on the ward.
One man had a tube up his nose and was insisting he wanted to go home! They let him go two days later but his wiskey had disappeared. lol
Poor lad of 16 next to Dad in for third time this year with diabetes.

Morning all,
Well yesterday was a day of downs and ups. Dad had a good night and was waiting for the Dr's to come round and when they did they still weren't a 100% sure of what they are looking for and they said that he would still have to stay in, They were trying to get a chest specialist to come and see him but it probabley wouldn't be till next week. So of course he was down when my brother went to see him in the afternoon. I left work and instead of going straight to the hospital I came home first, which was what I had been doing, I got home, quickly did hubby some tea and called for a taxi to take me to the hospital for the last 40 mins of visiting. we had gone about a quarter of the way there and my daughter rang to say that I had to come back home as Dad had rung to say that he was being allowed home (this was at 7.15 last night) and could hubby come and pick him up.
We got to the hospital and found out that the chest specialist had been at 7pm and had a talk with Dad and was letting him home. Dad has got to go back next Friday for a broncoscopy and they are going to take a biopsy as well to try and find out what the shadow is.
So we have him home now, but still have the wait to see what it is.

Thank you again for all the messages.

Take care
Helen

Much nicer to have your Dad at home while he waits for tests and results etc. I hope he feels happier there and the results are not too worrying.

Helen1959 Report 27 Aug 2009 21:49

Hi folks,
Just spoken to Dad on the phone, he's very nervous about tomorrow, in fact he's petrified. but I did make him feel better because I told him that I was going with him. I hadn't said anything before tonight partly because I wasn't sure that I could get the day off work, I've had to take it as unpaid holiday, but I'm not bothered I knew that I had to be there for him as I know that he will be thinking of the last time we were at the same unit. That was the day that Mum had the same proceedure. He did got to see his own Dr yesterday and he said that he'd seen a report of the scan that Dad had had, and although there is something there it is quite small and if it is serious it could well be treatable, which is a better prognosis than Mum had had. Mum's tumour was too close to her aorta for them to give her chemo and she only received a couple of doses of Radiotherapy for palliative care.

Please Please can I again ask you all for prayers and thoughts for tomorrow. I too am not looking forward to what is going to happen as I know that I have got to be the strong one. We are a very close and emotional family and I will need all my strength if things are not good.

Many thanks.

Helen

Evening folks,
just to let you know, Dad had the broncoscopy done on Friday, They also took 2 biopsys. He wanted to be sedated as he was very scared, but they managed to do it without giving him anything, which although upset him as he can remember it all, I think was better for him. He will be called back in 2 weeks to get the results. Now is the hardest part, the waiting and not knowing, We have now got to hope and pray that it was nothing too serious.

Thank you again for all your support and prayers, I will let you know how things go.

love
