Karen in the desert

Karen in the desert Report 22 Jul 2009 08:37

I have reported a thread once, probably about a year ago.

I wrote to GR and asked them to remove the whole thread, not one particular posting or person (I didnt even know what the RR button was!!!).
The thread's content was disgusting and the language was crude, not from any one person but from several.
Aswell as asking for it to be removed, I expressed my dissapointment in GR that they had allowed it to continue, and remain on the board for over 24 hrs.
I've seen a lot of bad stuff on here, but that was baaaaaaaad, and needed to be zapped.

I think I have tried a few times but I have real trouble getting messages to 'send' to GR so I now don't bother - I know someone else will have done it, so I let them :-)

recently I seem to arrive too late to reply on the threads or to report, so I don't bother to do either

I'm with SueMaid tho, I do think certain posts should be left so that everyone can see what the poster is really like.

What really annoys me is someone posting a thread and then deleting it within a few minutes when they don't get the answers they want. And of course the people who start up a thread that has the potential to start up trouble and leaving it to run on while no doubt sitting and laughing in the background. It's especially annoying when someone says "this will be deleted in 5 minutes". Why not straight away?

Edit - Hi Maz:))

i have never hit the RR button but did become fed up with reading interesting threads, then leaving for a while, coming back and finding that someone has caused the thread to be deleted,so I complained to GR and named a couple of people. I also made a couple of suggestions re the frequent changing of names, and deleting posts only rather than a whole thread.

I received a polite reply thanking me for bringing it to their attention and advising that they don't have the 'machinery' to monitor all postings, etc.and the rest of the reply explained how to hit the RR button next time I have a complaint. End of reply.

I would have thought that monitoring all threads would be part of someone's job description, but apparently not. It seems much easier to get a complaint, so you zap the whole thread. I wonder how it would be if newspaper editors and book publishers didn't have the 'machinery' to read articles/stories before they go to print?

Sorry, I have said this before in another thread -but the whole thread got deleted for some other unknown reason.

I can't believe Aileen was banned for asking what RR was!!! Several of us followed that by saying we didn't know either. Do we know for a fact that was the reason?

Uggers Report 22 Jul 2009 17:20

Ann, it's what Aileen told me - good enough for me:)

AnninGlos Report 22 Jul 2009 17:24

How stupid isn't it? I wasn't doubting your word.

Uggers

Uggers Report 22 Jul 2009 17:26

Stupid enough that it was reported Ann, never mind that GR acted on it

Have found some of the threads very entertaining in their content and a few nasty one on occasions. Have not yet come across a real bad one. Dont know what RR button stands for or where to find it. Several people have now mentioned the dreaded RR letters and still remain on GR.!!!! :o) whats with that?

Also, I report vitriolic and provocative goading posts and those that give away someone's geographical location.

Some threads should be reported but back to my other post...Why not ignore the poster then the thread does not get ruined? Just a thought.
