Huia Report 1 Aug 2013 22:21

Hi Mo. Phil is much the same as usual, keeping his eyes shut most of the time when I visit, but the other day when he opened them he was looking directly at me, and he looked surprised as if he might have recognised me. He didn't keep them open for long though (horrible sight?).

I have been busy getting photos ready for camera club on Monday. I also have to take along 6 of my favourites from the past year that have been awarded Honours or Highly Commended. Unfortunately a couple were damaged slightly when I took them off the backing board to reuse the board in later months, so I have had to get those 2 re-printed, as I liked them better than some of the others.

I am off out this morning, and in the afternoon I will be getting a small amount of work done on my vehicle, in the local garage. Tomorrow night I am going to the choir concert. There is a Family History Fair on this weekend in Manukau, and I am trying to decide whether to go tomorrow morning or leave it until Sunday. I want to see if Ancestry have a stall (I think they do) so that I can ask how to get my sister and parents etc removed from all the idiot trees on Ancestry with her m to John Downing b 1723.

Better get a move on.

Huia, it appears that Phil does have some memories of you my love, and I am sure he doesn't close his eyes just at the sight of you. They maybe have upped his mediaction, and that is whats making him so drowsy, and it must be pretty boring for the residents of the home most of the time.
Are you still singing with the choir Huia, or are you just going along for the enjoyment of hearing them.
I must check out your FB, to see what photo's you are going to enter again love. What a shame that the originals were spoilt when you took the backing off.
I hope you are not having to have to big and costly a job on your vehicle.

Well girls, another weekend is upon us, we have not got anything exciting planned, apart from going to see the grandchildren.
Has anyone got something exciting happening in their life this weekend?
Bye for now one and all. Love Mo xxx

Huia Report 3 Aug 2013 05:24

No, Mo, I am not still singing in the choir. I don't have the time! And the songs in the concert are being sung in their original language - German, Italian, French, Russian. I am looking forward to seeing how they cope with all that. Some years back most members hated singing in anything except English.

I paid only $20 at the garage. He put some spacer blocks in a couple of places under the tray, where they had come out. I made the blocks for him. I did try to talk him up to $40 as I am sure the time he spent was worth more than $20, but he wouldn't take more. :-| :-)

I haven't put any photos on FB lately, I will wait to see how they go on Monday night.

I am going to the Fam. Hist. Fair tomorrow (Sunday) if I don't sleep in too late after my late night tonight. Busy, busy, busy.

Huia.

Hi Mo, and everyone

We had rain most of today

Everything seems so fresh, and the cooler temperature was also very welcome.

We did break two records for July ................ the most sunshine, and 0 mm rain fell in the month, so it was the driest month ever

OH is slightly different to your guys ................... he will get things to usable stage, put them in place. Then they never get completely finished ........ whether that is painting, staining, trim added or whatever.

I now just shrug my shoulders, and ignore it!

I'm just making arrangements for us to go up to OH's sister in a couple of weeks time ................. it's our anniversary on the 12th, and then OH will turn 75 a week later.

I've found it difficult to decide what to do for his birthday, but then had the bright idea 2 days ago that he might enjoy going up to see his sis, and the niece and her husband who live in the same town (the niece who had her appendix out a few weeks ago). He jumped at the idea. Sis-i-l is going to check out a place for us to go for dinner

I have to book things this weekend ................ we'll fly up there, stay a week, then take the train home.

The train is a bit "round the hills" .................. it's a 2 day trip from sis' town to Jasper, staying overnight in a hotel. We then have to stay overnight in Jasper, before getting on to The Canadian for the overnight trip to Vancouver

Sis-i-l told me tonight that she starts back to work on Sunday, half time at first. It's a month since she had the last chemo treatment.

take care everyone

Jean sorry to hear that you have earache, hope you can get rid of it soon with painkillers. Have you been in a draft?

Will you now go looking for another sideboard then? I am sure that you should be able to find one fairly quickly.

JustJean Report 5 Aug 2013 16:27

Hi,Ann, I cant wear my right hearing aid so wonder if the wax has built up, it doesnt seem that long ago when I had my ears syringed.... , although my voice is very hoarse so a trip to the docs I think ,I am due to go on wed for blood pressure test, I will ask then,
we will have a look round again for another sideboard, pity it was just ideal too,
but we will try and get something ready built.....

Have you tried putting a little bit of oil (I use olive oil) in your ear.

Hello me lovelies,
Sylvia, what a lovely reason to have a break away, your Anniversary and OH's birthday. I am sure you will have a wonderful time, celebrating with your SIL. And what good news that your SIL is returning back to work, after her chemo treatment, such a strong lady, and good on her.

Oh Jean, what bad luck with the sideboard. I bet J and D were pulling their hair out trying to sort it out, and beginning to doubt their own sanity.
I do hope you have better luck finding a ready made one my love.
Sorry to hear that you have got an ear -ache, and hope that it's not an infection.

Ann, have you had any recent cuddles with baby Luke? I bet you notice a big change in him, they seem to go from being so dependant one minute, to independant children over night.
It doesn't seem possible that our youngest great grandaughter is now six months old, and is as crafty as a little monkey.
She only has to smile at her Nanny (our daughter )and it melts her heart, and she gives in to whatever Zoey wants. Mind you, we were the same when our grandchildren were small, they could do no wrong in our eyes.

I am not looking forwards to tomorrow. It's the day I am due to have the surgery on my gum. They are going to cut the gum, remove the nerve and do root treatment to a tooth I had capped years ago. Why they never did it in the first place, I shall never know, but wish me luck girls. I am going to ask how they are intending to do it, and if it sounds like it's something really major, I shant bother having it done as it's not bothering me at the moment. (Cowdy custard thats me, and I have never ever been afraid of the dentists before in my life, I suppose it's a fear of the unknown)
I hope you are all well. Love and hugs Mo xxx

Safe and happy journey Sylvia.

Mo hope all goes well tomorrow, sounds nasty, not sure why they are cutting the gum to remove the nerve but I assume they know what they are doing. Trouble is, if you don't have it done you don't know what is happening underneath. If it went nasty you could end up with an abcess so do be advised by the dentist. And I hate dentists too!
Jean, Aaw that is nasty, poor you, hope you feel better soon love. Rest and NOT TOO MUCH TALKING. <3 <3 <3

Mo in Kent Report 6 Aug 2013 19:01

Well girls, would you believe it, I am fuming with my dentist. When I saw the new dentist today, he said that the tooth cannot be saved, and that there is to much decay between the crown and the next tooth, that there is nothing he can do apart from remove it.
I have made another appointment with him, for the 28th of this month, and asked if I can go on his books, and thankfully I can.
Now, why has my original dentist, not picked up on this decay, as I visit her regularly every six months.
I cannot remember the last time she gave me any treatment, and she actually xrayed the tooth 2 years ago, and as recently as a couple of months ago, before referring me further.
She does not extract teeth, but sends patients else where for that treatment.
She refused to treat Roly after his brain bleed, giving the reason that he was on aspirin, but she was seeing him up until the time he needed an extraction, and he had been taking the aspirin for 20 years prior to the bleed, so she referred his to the community dentist.
I shall NOT be going back to her ever again, I have lost all faith in her.

Oh my lovely Jean, I am so sorry to hear about your infection, and hope and pray that it clears up soon. I wont send you chocolates, but I do send you my love and extra special hugs. <3 <3 <3

Ann, the dentist explained to me, that had the root of my tooth been healthy, instead of being decayed, he would have cut the gum at the top by my lip, and removed what needed removing, but as it is to far gone, he would not have been able to attach the crown back into place. He would then have stitched my gum up for me. So it looks like I shall have to have it taken out eventually, as he said it could snap of at the root at any time. I shall be gummy, and have to suck my food to bits lol.
It's a good job I am not scared of having treatment done, I would rather have it done than suffer with toothache, and the only reason I was a bit concerned this time was because I was unsure what he intended to do to me. The mind does go into overdrive doesn't it.

Must go now girls, hugs to all, Mo xxx

AnninGlos Report 7 Aug 2013 09:22

Mo at least you now know what you are expecting and have a new dentist. It beggars belief that your old dentist didn't do extractions. I wonder if it was the same as a dentist we used to have, she was lovely, the wife of the main dentiost at our current surgery and his then partner in the practice. She suddenly stopped practice and rumour was she was terrified of getting aids. (this was some years ago). I have always, except in one case, preferred a male dentist. :-)

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 8 Aug 2013 16:45

Ann, it would seem that quite a few dental practises here, do refer patients to other dentists for extractions.
My friend is waiting to have four teeth out, on her bottom jaw. Her dentist made her new teeth, but has referred her elsewhere for the ectractions, and she has her new teeth at home with her. Now how strange is that. I know that Roly's new dentures are still sitting in the glass in the bathroom, and that he cleans them on a regular basis, but he will not wear the darned things, what a waste of good money is what I keep telling him. But poor Florence cant even keep her teeth in a glass yet, and it must feel like dangling sweets in front of a child, and telling them they can't eat them. lol
Bye for now girls, got to do some dinner now. Love Mo xxx

Never heard of it before Mo. Is your dentist NHS? And the others?

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 9 Aug 2013 19:30

Yes Ann, it's NHS dentists at most practises around here, unless you want to go private, and then they will still accept you.
Yes there are a few private only dentists, but there is no way we could afford to go private.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 9 Aug 2013 19:32

That is possibly the difference, hardly any NHS dentists here, ours is private.

Hello to you all,
Happy Birthday Ann, I hope you have a lovely day.
It is the 13th here to-day and my 1st Son Michael's Birthday today he is 50 yrs, and it just seems like yesterday that he was a skinny 8 lb 3 ozs baby in my arm's, how time flies.

Have a nice trip Sylvia with your husband and Happy Birthday to him also.

I have been Ill for the past 3 weeks with a very bad chest cold as well as Sinus I am feeling much better to-day we will see how I am later this evening as that seems to be my worst time.
I have also had aching teeth from the sinus also 2 cold sores and an ulcer in the roof of my mouth it has made for a rather miserable time.
I have good news about my daughter she went to Sydney to the specialist and he did the scans and it showed that the broken Tibia and also the Ligament were healing very well which is such good news as she does not need an operation .She is now putting her weight on the bad leg and hobbling around .
She has to take pain killers as the knee is paining a good deal.

Our weather has been bad, rain and high winds it blew down several tree's in Bathurst but many more in Sydney and Melbourne.

No news when Brian and Kathleen may be putting the house on the market ..
My granddaughter Sarah has offered to rent her Unit to me when I have to move
I may take her up on the offer it is only about 5 years old and is very nice, it has 3 bedrooms and a double garage I would be able to use part of the garage for all my gardening tools.

Good luck with your tooth Mo I have a dental appointment on the 09th of September it is my 6 month check up., I also have a capped tooth that cost me a fair bit of money I do hope all is well with it,I don't have any tooth ache ,only what i experienced with the Sinus.

Hi Jean, I hope you are over your earache by now I hope you are all having some nice sunny weather over there we could do with a bit more of the Sun part rather than the heavy frosts we have been waking up too

.I almost forgot you Huia,
How was the concert I am sure you would have enjoyed it.
My small group of singers are coming along nicely and were invited to sing in a choirs concert a few weeks back, they sung very well and I was extremely pleased with them they have improved so well in the past 6 months.

The concert was hosted by a group called ARTS out WEST and is sponsored by the University and I think the Local Council they are hoping it will become and annual event with choirs from around the district.

Must go
Love and Hugs
