Sallie Report 21 Jul 2013 23:21

Hi Girls,

Hope you are all okay. I haven't been on here for a few days, as I have been quite busy making first lot of Christmas cards and preparing for the visitors we've had over the weekend.

Mo, I felt sure that you had posted on here the other day too. but because I have only had a quick look at this thread and a couple of other other threads, I thought that perhaps I was mistaken.....I wonder what has happened to your post.

Marie lovely to see you post and pleased that you had a great time in Sydney with your daughter and granddaughter.

Jean, how are things with you and your family? Hope that you are all okay.

I looked at the email you sent me, I can't get over how much craft stuff you still have left.

I really must start to sort my craft stuff out, trouble is, I would much prefer to make cards instead.lol!!!!

Ann, Sylvia and Huia hope that you and your families are all alright.

I'll say goodnight now and hope to get back on here tomorrow.

Take care.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Marie, here we are sweltering and there you were 3-5 degrees, that is chilly. We are forecast thunderstorms tomorrow which is a shame as we were hoping to go into town for lunch for T's birthday.

Sallie I actually made three Christmas cards yesterday, however I already have 50 left fro last year so that is a good start made on this years.

Mo, Wonder what happened to your thread, don't think I saw it at all.

Went to the hearing clinic today to get my aids checked out before Tenerife. Nice young girl changed the tubes and also gave me two spare tubes and two spare 'shoulders' because apparently the heat can affect them (it has been hotter here than Tenerife the past 2 weeks), and then she gave me 4 packs of batteries so that saves me a trip to the hospital to get batteries for a while.

Hi Mo, and everyone

We had a lovely time up north. We didn't stay in the cabin, it is completely empty now except for 3 bed frames. Instead we did as we did last year .............. stayed in a hotel in town, with an air conditioned room :-D

We went out to the cabin (about an hour's drive from the town) on Friday............... it was the loveliest view from the gate ................. about half an acre or so of white!

All the Marguerites were in full flower, and standing about knee high above the grass.

OH managed to get work done that he could do on that one day, so we mooched around town on Saturday ........ we went to our favourite gallery, and I gave in and bought another soapstone carved bear. Had sworn I didn't need another one, but ..........

Remember the one I had as my avatar 18 months ago, with the pink stole slung around his shoulder??? Well, he's got a pal!! :-D

We managed to meet up with the realtor on Saturday afternoon, he was having a very busy weekend with clients! We liked him, face-to-face, and he seemed "our kind", if you understand what I mean.

The weather was lovely ................ we had a bit of rain on Thursday as we neared the end of our journey, but after that, it was hot and sunny!

Thank heavens for an air conditioned car. :-D :-D :-D

A good drive home yesterday, picking up some of the new season's fruit from a farm stand on the way ............ apricots, peaches, cherries, and 2 lemon cucumbers.

I have another trip to the doc's this afternoon to see if a week on the new drug has achieved anything.

You really can't blame the doctors for not knowing much about drugs ................ most GPs only get about 3 lectures (not even classes) in drugs while training. Then it's whatever information they get from the drug company representatives. It's all a bit scary when you think about it. Specialists will be better educated in drug interactions, of course.

But that is precisely why it is the pharmacists' responsibility to catch drug interactions ................ that is now enshrined in the law here in BC. Not sure what the situation is in the UK, or elsewhere in Canada.

Jean ................... thank you for what you posted on my thread last week xxxx <3 <3

take care everyone

Hello my lovelies, it's so nice to catch up with you.
Sallie, I am sure I did post, but goodness knows where it vanished to, it's somewhere in cyber space. :-) :-)
I can't believe that you and the girls have been making Christmas cards already. But then I dare say it's because it's been so hot, that I can't even think about christmas, my poor brain can't accept that it's only a few months away.
Hows you been lately honey? I hope you are coping better now sweetheart.

Ann, do you notice a big difference when they re-tube your aid? I know Roly does, but unfortunately it doesn't last for long. The last time he had it done,a younger man did it for him, and the next day, he had problems hearing clearly. ( Well thats his excuse when he ignores what I say lol )
He is very lucky that he only has to walk into our health centre, and they will change his batteries for him. Fortunately it is just up the road from us. I have to laugh when he says my aid is singing to me, as thats when the batteries are running out.

Hi Sylvia,
Isn't it nice knowing that your realtor, is a pleasant young man, and that you can feel safe that he is acting in your interest, and not just after making a quick buck.
Do you feel happier now, knowing that the cabin is empty, and ready for viewing.
It's nice to know that you had a pleasant time away love. And that you had a nice hotel room, air con included.
We could do with air con here at the moment, it's just to darned hot.
I hope things went well at the doctors for you Sylvia, and that the new meds suit you.
You will have to put your new soap stone bear as your avatar, so that we will know what it looks like.

Well girl, I am going to go and sit in the garden for a while to cool down.
Good night god bless, love Mo xxx

Hi all, we had a very short storm in the early hours this morning, hardly enough to wet the grass, and it has been humis all day today. We went to Cheltenham on the bus to buy golf shoes for Tony for his birthday and a shirt, then I got some reduced baby clothes in Mothercare, then we had lunch out - T's choice of venue, all you can eat chinese buffet. Still hot here now but sunny not cloudy.

Jean hope you are please with your furniture when it is finished.
Did you get your hearing sorted at Specsavers?

I have been making a few more small ordinary Christmas cards but it is too hot really.

tomorrow I have the dentist, follow up appointment for the root canal filling, seems weird to be going when there seems to be nothing wrong as, since he did the preliminary filling I have had no problems at all.

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 23 Jul 2013 18:27

Oh my word, we had a horrendous storm last night, with sheet and fork lightening.
A house not far from us was hit by the lightening, and went up in smoke, whew that was a close one.
It absolutely poured it down with rain, and the plants in the garden were very happy bunnies this morning.

At long last I have managed to get myself a few new clothes, that I actually like, and that also fit me, and dont swamp me.
We went to the M+S outlet centre, and I managed to get two lovely skirts, and tops to match.
Yippee, it made such a change, not to see dresses that I would have had to take up by about six inches. It appears that the women nowadays must be giants compared to myself. I know I have shrunk with age, but for goodness sake, not to the point where I would have to do such drastic alterations.
There were some lovely clothes in the outlet shop, at a greatly reduced prices.
We tried to get Roly some new trousers, but if the waist size was correct, the leg length was wrong. Bless him, like me he has shrunk so much over the years. He never was a giant of a man, but his inside trouser length has shrunk down to 27 and a half inches, and the only place he can get them in the correct length, is from a gents mail order catalogue.

It's so overcast here, but still very very hot, perhaps we will have another storm tonight. So Jean, I will not venture out in my birthday suit tonight, just in case, but then I could have a nice shower couldn't I, all I would need is my shower gel and I would be made.
Bye for now my friends. Take care, love Mo xxx

Sallie Report 23 Jul 2013 21:02

Hi Girls, we had a few thunderstorms through the night and early this morning, but it is still hot and humid here. A house a couple of miles away from Jennie, was struck by lightening this morning...the owners were having their breakfast when it happened and didn’t realise that most of their roof was on fire until a neighbour knocked the door and told them. Also, a couple of other houses in the area got struck too.
Mo, it looks as though the fire service here and in your area have had a busy time.

Glad to hear that you have managed to get some new clothes that fit you.lol!! I find that a size 14 is different depending on which shop I buy them from. Alun has always taken a 29 inch inside leg, but now find that even the trousers from M&S are too long for him. As you say, maybe our hubbies are shrinking.lol!!

Jean, yes I really must get my crafting stuff sorted out. I have thought about asking Jennie to do it for me, as she is very good at sorting and putting things in order.....she takes after Alun for that.
Pleased to hear that you have been able to get some new furniture for your room, I’m sure that the room will look lovely when it’s finished. It’s good that D is good at putting the flat packs together....I know I wouldn’t be able to.

Ann, sounds as though you had a good day in Cheltenham and were able to get T some golfing shoes for his birthday.
I have made 17 Christmas cards so far, they are only ordinary cards, some of them I have made out of the Christmas cards that we received last year. Some of them were so nice it was a shame not to use them.

Sylvia, hope all goes well with the sale of the cabin and that you sell it pretty quickly.
Pleased that you were able to get a few jobs done at the cabin and that you and OH had a lovely weekend away.

Marie and Huia hope all is well with you both and your families.

Well, I’ll speak to you all tomorrow.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Well girls, I am exhausted, what with the heat, and having little Lilly all day.
She has got that awful cough back again, bless her, even when she dozed off to sleep, she coughed her heart up, but like me, did not wake up.
I can cough for queen and country during my sleep, and wake the whole house up, apart from myself. lol
I ended up running a tepid bath, and put her into it, to cool her down a bit. She loved it, and yes, she didn't want to get out. :-D :-D :-D, but nanny is the stronger of the two, and I got my way.
I must be mad... I decided to walk her up to town, in her pushchair, but crumbs, I was truly cream crackered by the time I got home. Walking a long distance in this heat is not advisable, yes I know, I am a right narna.

Going to get myself some rest now, so bye for now girls. Love and hugs Mo xxx

Sallie Report 24 Jul 2013 23:17

Mo, hope Lilly's cough will soon go, bless her. It's awful when hear them coughing like that and can't really do anything about it.

You were definitely brave pushing her pushchair up to town in the hot weather we are all having.lol!!! I don't think I could have done it. Having said that I walked up to town and back late on Monday morning and I was shattered when I got home and I didn't even have a pushchair to push.lol!!

I'm off to bed now, so will speak to you tomorrow.

e are back from Hampshire, had a nice weekend with daughters youngest and his girlfriend, although I did all the cooking.

We went to see baby Luke on Saturday and he is gorgeous (yes I know I would say that wouldn't I. But he really is). Had a long cuddle and then OH wanted a cuddle so had to reliquish him. Photos on my blog.

Only had a quick shower on Saturday evening, left there at 0905 this morning and got home at 10.30, a good quick run home. Not sure if they have had rain here over the weekend or not. Did manage a trip to M&S and to a big garden centre and also hobbycraft so did quite well in the time we were there.

Grandson who has moved into his parents' house has spent most of the weekend in dispute with the landlady of the house he and 3 others have been in for a year. She is being really difficult and over the top it seems. One of the others isn't bothered about getting his deposit/bond back but grandson says he has cleaned the place three times now and she is still being unreasonable. Without seeing it for myself it is difficult to judge but he is not a layabout and does clean up after himself. I wonder if she is taking advantage, just a pity his parents are not there any more. He has done the garden twice.

Mo in Kent Report 28 Jul 2013 17:39

It certainly sounds like your grandsons land lady is taking the mick out of him Ann.
Do you think it's because she hasn't kept the deposit money to pay back to them.
It's not a very nice attitude to take is it. I do hope they dont have to end up taking her to court to get it back. Maybe the threat to do so, will make her rethink her strategy.
Aaah bless, I bet you didn't want to give the baby Luke back. But how nice a feeling it is, knowing that we can have loads of hugs, and then give them back and get a full nights sleep ourselves.

We had a lovely storm last night, leaving us with a cooler day today. Thank goodness the humidity has gone, even if it only for today.
I received a lovely trophy on Thursday night. Our team came runners up in the summer league. In August four of us will get another trophy, for winning the fours against all the other teams in our local district league.

Sorry not to have been in to speak to you since last thursday, I just don't know where the time goes.
Take care everyone. Love and hugs Mo xxx

AnninGlos Report 28 Jul 2013 17:44

Because they were students I think there is an appeal system. He has cleaned the house and is now waiting to hear from her. I think she is taking advantage.

Well done on the trophy Mo.

Yes, could have gone on cuddling him but apparently he played up last night so rather them than me really!!! :-D

Welll done our Mo, glad I kept the betting account open ;-) ;-)
hope Roly is o.k.

At last we have the furniture delivered, trouble is it is all flat packed , J has built one of the chairs , but the test match is due to start so it may take a bit longer to do the next chair , then the sideboard needs doing , but no doubt D will take over, so very soon at last I will be able to sort out the last of my craft stuff, and manage to do a few cards :-D :-D :-D

hope all our good friends are well and especially those lovely friends from over seas, always good to hear from you ...hot weather forecast again. here, so pleny of suncream or like me dont go out ;-) ;-) take care ...

Mo in Kent Report 1 Aug 2013 19:18

Oh my word, it's sooo hot. I thought I would go and sit in the garden a few minutes ago, on opening the patio doors, I hit the stifling heat, and walked back in the house again.
O.k I know, I shouldn't be moaning, but tomorrow it's going to start to cool down a bit, and then the rain will start. We brits are never satisfied are we. :-D :-D :-D

Jean, at least J has started the flat packs, more than I can say for Roly. The bedside cabinets we bought, whilst I was still at work, back in 2007/2008, are still in the packaging in the shed. lol :-( :-( :-(
But I mustn't complain, he built me some new step up into our shed last week. Where are they now, yep, in the shed, waiting for him to stain them. He doesn't want them to get wet, before he gets round to doing them lol. So I now need a parachute to get down the step from the shed into the garden.
Still it will all look lovely when J and D finish the furniture, at least you will know what they look like, I have forgotten what the bedside cabinets look like as it's been so long since we bought them. I have the patience of a saint..(not really ).

Ann, how is baby Luke settling now. Better I hope, for mummy and daddies sake, theres nothing worse than not getting a whole nights sleep.

I hope everyone is well. I send you all my very very best wishes. Love Mo xxx

Huia Report 1 Aug 2013 21:18

Maybe I should come over there Mo, to put the cabinets together for you! I have helped build 2 houses and have put together a bookcase more recently. Why don't you try to do it? At least Roly might get interested and want to take over to make sure it is done correctly and his tools aren't ruined. :-)

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 1 Aug 2013 21:52

LOL Huia, I have tried that, and I can't repeat what I was called. Impatient, what who me, no surely not was my response.
I know you would be able to do them Huia, you turn your hand to so many things. And I have no doubt that after much sweating and swearing, I would be able to make the cabinets up.....BUT....it's the principal of it now. If he can't be bothered, then neither can I. After all, they are for his bedroom, and not mine, and mine is already made up, and looking great.
And as for mucking his tools up, well, I now know where they all are, whereas, before he cleared the shed out, it would have been like looking for a needle in a haystack. lol :-D :-D :-D
Hope you are going along o.k Huia. Hows Phil nowadays?
Take care my love, Mo xxx
