Ann, sorry that you have been feeling poorly over the last couple of days. Hope that you will start to feel a lot bbetter very soon. Like you Ann, I have no problem with the NHS hearing aids. I paid £1500 pound for one quite a few years ago now but couldn't do anything with it at all, even though I went back to the place several times to try and get it sorted. So I just gave it up as a bad job in the end.lol!!!
Jean, I 've still got a few birthday cards to make and then I can start on th Christmas ones. It will be nice when the room is done to how you want it, as both you and J will be able to relax then. Are you having carpet in there?
Alun's sister Lynda, called here for lunch today on her way home to Yorkshire from Bedford. It was lovely to see her. She was saying that her hubby is a lot calmer now that they have changed his medication....... he had become aggressive on the medication he was on. Oh dear, it's awful to think of him as he is. Lynda was telling us that the home he is in isn't a very pleasant place to be, all the residents there have dementia. When we next go up there we will have to go and see her hubby, I'm not looking forward to that as it is a good while since we last seen him.
Mo, hope that everything is alright with you, Roly and family.
Well I'm going to put the kettle on now ready to make us a drink when Alun will get home. Speak to you all tomorrow.
Take care.
Love, Sallie.xxx

Morning everyone, too hot to sleep ... managed until 4.00 then heard a bang and was wide awake sometimes the big vans deliver early to the local shops and I think that is what happened, but I do love early morning, my time to catch up on some recorded stuff or read.... Sallie we have tiles down when it was built but we will look for a square carpet I think just for the middle. cant believe how grubby all the white frame of the conservatory was, because of my craft tables and shelves we couldnt get to do it all so now we or I should say J has done two sides and will do the othe two today. must say it does look good so far.... then its some new furniture couple of chairs ect; we already have blinds up so they are fine.... I think I may have saved too much craft stuff, but the lady who took the biggest lot says she will have any more if I cant store it....I have seen some new dies on e-bay that I quite like but have resisted temptation so far ;-) ;-) ;-) cant promise it will last long though :-D :-D Ann, hope you are feeling better now, this weather is lovely but lots of bugs thrive so plenty of liquid is a great help I find. I am still losing weight albeit slowly and have cut out coffee and tea down to two cups a day I drink water in between... feel ok, but the legs are not improving sadly.... but at least I am getting into clothes I havent wore for a long time, some still with the tags still on :-D :-D :-D
to all our friends home and abroad love and hugs, take care ,
love Jean xx

Hi Jean, you are an early bird. My father always loved the early mornings, he reckoned that it was the best part of the day. When he was working he was up every morning at a quarter to five....on his day off he would lie in until a quarter to six.
Are you managing to resist buying the new dies you would like to have? Not easy to resist buying new dies that are out now........there are a few that I would like to get, but I have a problem on where to store them. I really need to sort out all my craft stuff instead of keeping on making more cards. I much prefer making cards though.lolol!!!
Ann, how are you feeling today? I hope that you are feeling at least a bit better.
Mo, where are you? We haven't heard from you for quite a few days. I hope that all is well with you and your family.
Sylvia, Huia, and Marie hope things are all alright with you and your families too.
Might pop in again later on.
Take care.

Phew!!! We were at Tescos at 0845 this morning and it was heaving. Apparently a lot of staff don't turn up on hot days or 'go sick' so there were 11 tills without cashiers and the queus were building up. Loads of children in the toddler to ten years old range all absolutely hyper, running and shouting excitedly (have I missed something? Not Christmas is it?) Anyway we joined a queue third in line behind two huge basket loads, one a man on his own. We were so lucky as both went through quite fast and the single man 40s/50s was so organised he had a huge load but was really fast packing. the cashier was so fast I had to slow her down at the end, she said it was automatic after a while. We went into the cafe and had coffee and egg on toast for breakfast and were home by 10.10. Glad that is done. %3A-D
And I have just checked the temperature. In the shade on the patio it is 30, in the sun just off the patio it is 35, I didn't check the middle of lawn where it is sheltered because I am sure it is higher there.

Oh good grief Ann, your luck is so like mine when shopping. Our local Tes*o's had a power cut yesterday morning, and could not open because obviously the tills and chiller cabinets and freezers were not working. When they did eventually open, it was like a grandprix start, with people rushing in to load their trolleys up. We just sauntered round, with us both refusing to buy any chilled or frozen food,(just in case) and by the time we reached the check outs, they was only two cashiers for trolleys, the rest were for baskets only, and some were for goods that did not need weighing just scanning. What a nightmare, a shop that would normally take us about thirty minutes took us over an hour. We the went over to Ice*ands, and the girls in there said that they had been rushed off their feet earlier when the power cut hit Tes*o's, and they only had two cashiers as well, as it was tea break time. We were really glad to get home, and abslutely refused to get any shopping at all today. Instead of shopping, I must be mad, but I decided to paint the window sills, and door frame on the front of the house. Cor talk about it aint alf hot mum, I sweated buckets, but it looks great now, and I am chuffed to bits that I did it. Jean will be pleased to hear I am back to my old self, with a paint brush in my hands lol. Must go now girls, hope to be able to post tomorrow, but If I don't, please know that I am thinking of you all.
Hi there Sallie, I didn't want to go without a special hello to you my lovely firiend. Cheers for now me dears. Love to all, Mo xxx

We have just been to a large garden centre. It was cooler doing that as there is air con in the car and the centre was cool with all the plants being watered.
We had a coffee and then the local ice cream makers were doing a taste day with their ice creams. We had a cornet each and they were lovely.
There were a lot of plants reduced and we bought a few including Gazanias which I love. I also bought a long semi pleated cardigan in very fine gauzy thread, black reduced from £27 to £6 because it has a very small hole in the shoulder which is easily mended. It will be ideal for holiday evenings.
OH bought a couple of free standing solar light balls to add to his collection. And we bought strawberries and cherries and a few other bits from the farm shop. So had a lovely morning. :-D
Goodness Mo a bit hot for outside painting. Still no problem with it drying. :-D

Hi girls, been having problems again trying to get on GR....kept coming up with Error all of the time.
Ann, you did well getting that cardigan for £6, as you say you can easily mend the small hole.
I love going to the garden centre we mostly go to, like to have a good browse around the shop there, they sell clothes and lots of novelty gifts that come in handy for Christmas pressies. Of course, also love the craft centre there and we usually end up in the coffee shop for a nice pot of tea and a scone.
Mo, you have been a busy bee doing all that painting. How did you manage the heat? I tend to stay indoors with the fan going when it's hot.......hot weather doesn't suit me at all. I like nice sunny and warm weather, but not the temperatures we are having at the moment.
Sorry, hadn't finished writing my message when the blinking thing added to the thread.
Jean how are you and your family doing? Hope that you are all alright.
Have you done any cards over the last couple of days? I finished making making a birthday card this afternoon and also made a few Christmas cards......not easy to get into the mood of making Christmas cards in this heat though.lolol!!!
Well I am ready for a cuppa now, so will speak to you all tomorrow.
Take care everyone.
Love, Sallie.xxx

Hello to you all , There you are saying how hot it is and I am sitting here with frozen feet.
It is raining here and is very cold but I don't mind the rain, better than the frosts and fog's we have been having. My Granddaughter Sarah and I went down on the train to Sydney on Saturday and meet up with my daughter Kerry. We stayed the night in the center of Sydney at a very nice Inn across from the Park where the War Memorial and Cenotaph were built. It is a lovely park.,the room was very nice It cost us $200 and that included Parking so it cost's us $70 each . We had a nice time as the weather and temperature were mild.
.I managed to buy 2 cardigans for a very reasonable price.
We came home by train from Sydney ,we left there at 5-50 pm and arrived home at 9-45 pm. I slept very well as we did a lot of walking on the 2 days.
Hi Sallie , Happy Birthday, sorry I missed your special day.
Ann congratulations on your new grandson Luke Stephen John I do love the name .
Hi Jean it sounds like your room will be very nice when you and J finish it.Have you been doing any gardening this summer?
Hi Mo good to hear you and Roly are well, how are the darts going??
Hello Sylvia ,How are you I hope the weather is being kind to right up there in the North . It is cold here and my right arthritic knee is letting me know it does not like the cold weather.
It is time for me to close and go and cover up some of my plants against the frost in case the rain should clear over night . Love and Hugs to you all <3 Marie

Hello my lovely friends. It's good to hear from you Marie. It sounds like you and your grandaughter had a great time in Sydney. I take it that Kerry drove to meet you, as you had to park the car up. Now that is somewhere I would love to go. The Sydney Harbour bridge conjures up wonderful images for me. Yes my love, it's been oh so hot here, if I could I would put some in a letter and send it to you. Come to that, the cyber hatch is not much use for sending it either. Our darts season is finished for the time being. Everyone is having holidays, so they hold it off till around September/October.
Ooh Ann, you were in the right place at the right time, getting the cardigan that cheap. I shall have to google Gazenia's as I don't know what they look like. Are they a perrenial plant? It sounds like they are a cross between a gardenia and zenias perhaps.
Sallie, I didn't manage very well in the heat painting outside, I was exhausted afterwards. Today we had to shift a load of wood up to the local tip. When our friend replaced our shed door for us, he left us to dispose of the old door. Poor Roly had to saw it up, and then we loaded it into the car to get rid of it. Afterwards we had to take the car and get it valeted, it was worse than a timber yard. But it's now nice and shiny and clean, apart from the knock it had on the front wing, when Roly had his stroke that is. The guys who cleaned it, kind of looked at it and wondered why we bothered to get it cleaned, but the knock is not that bad, just a dent to us. Oh well never mind, it still gets us from A to B.
Bye for now girls, take care. Love Mo xxx

Good morning ladies, still very hot although not as much as you in the lower end of the country.... Marie, Your trip out with your family sounds lovely, I am stuck with the stuff I saved craft wise , much too much, so back to more sorting and selling again then hopefully I can get the room done and we can relax..... . I only have tubs I think you are thinking of our Ann who has a beautiful garden,
Sallie I will send you a pic of how much stuff I have in boxes , trolleys, bags yet so no where to do any cards yet , Its really stressing me out, I just dont seem able to let go , but I must and I will.... we have done all the cleaning and now need some sort of storage, but the heat drains me so its moving very slowly.
Mo , you do pick the right time to paint ..... right in the middle of an heatwave....doh....still I bet it was time the bright green paint you used last time did need toning down a bit, your neighbours keep me informed dont you know ;-) ;-) so I hope you have picked a more subtle colour in keeping with your age.....re...old....we opted for elegant black , so right for the age of the house btw are you coming up here for the lights this year....well cant sit here nattering things to do, places to go, see you all later,( give some smiles away, you will get some back) my thought for the day. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D
take care love and smiles Jean xx <3

Hello saucy Jean, that green paint went ages ago, I changed it to cerise pink, but the neighbours complained, so now I have done it a lovely shade of white. It's gleaming in this sunshine, in fact it's dazzlingly white, and makes the eyes boggle when looking at it. No honey, we haven't been up to Blackpool for a couple of years now. It's such a long journey for us, and it tires us out so much, that when we get there, we just want to sleep, and thats a waste of money as far as we are concerned. Roly went to see the specialist today, and he gave us great news. The scans showed that there are no more likely places for him to have a bleed showing. He has increased his blood pressure pills to 7.5 rather than 5.00, but taken him of another of the BP pills, as they were causing his feet and ankles to swell. So we are really pleased with his progress, thank the good lord for his care of him.
I am just going to dish our Strawberries and ice cream up now, yummy. Bye for now my friends. Love Mo xxx oh and :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Mo, very good news for Roly and yourself of course :-D
I went into town today and couldnt cope with the heat so I had to go back to the car, I am seriously thinking of getting one of those three wheel trollies to help me get round a bit easier, dont want a scooter had one ages ago and hated it. but the wheely thingy may do and its lightweight , folds up to fit in the car easier....
hope you are all managing with the heat wave, not much fun trying to get jobs done, we were having our conservative cleaned outside , too hot to do yet,
I think I will follow your advice Mo and have some stawberries and ice cream , good thinking old girl.... :-D :-D :-D :-D

Hi Mo, and everyone
I'm still around, but been busy with visitors etc.
The cabin is now on the market, ad listed on what we call the Multiple Listing Service.
Hopefully someone will fall in love with it.
We're going up there on Thursday .......... our first visit this year, as there have been so many things going on! We should be home on Sunday. We'll be staying in a hotel in the nearest town, which is about 60 km away ............... we emptied the cabin last year, and do not want to be taking stuff backwards and forwards. So this is the simple solution!
My doctors are trying me on a new bp pill ................ they were testing my bp in the office yesterday (I went to get prescription refills!!) ......................... one set of 6 readings taken at 2 minute intervals registered between 200 and 229 :-0
They did a second set, and those registered between 190 and 202 :-0 :-0
Then the pharmacist discovered that the wrong dosage of the new drug could interact badly with the cholesterol drug I'm on
Anyway, they sorted that out ................... and I'm to take the new one for 14 days, with a visit to the docs next Monday to do a bp.
If it is working as they hope, then they will gradually take me off one of the other ones, and I guess, gradually increase the dosage of this new one.
Not sure what happens about the cholesterol drug!
Marie ................. we stayed in that same area in 2006 ............... at the Best Western Stellar just about half a block down Wentworth from Hyde Square.
It was, shall we say "interesting'!!
Best Western had seemingly just taken it over, it was a conversion of an office block, I believe ............... and we had a continually leaking basin in the bathroom that didn't leak when the plumber came to look! It was actually very comfortable, and easy to get to everywhere because of the transit so close.
The main problem we had was that they only gave us one very tiny bar of soap, and we were there for 3 or 4 days :-S
We did have dinner one night at what was then the Marriott Hotel on College Avenue, overlooking Hyde Park ...... I see it is now called the Pullman Sydney Hyde Park
I had a lovely fillet of kangaroo steak, with a fruity reduction sauce :-D
take care, everyone
s xx

Good grief Sylvia, your BP was as high as Roly's was, when he had his stroke. Isn't it amazing when folk are on a cocktail of medication, how many do not mix. When we told the specialist the other day, that our GP wanted to change one of Roly's tablets, he nearly fell of his chair in shock....he said no way should you be put on that when you are taking tablets for your postrate problems, and that was why he upped the dosage of one BP tablet instead. Now had we not waited to have words with him about the change of meds, before Roly started to take them, I dread to think what could have happened. For goodness sake, our doctor is just a general practicioner (sp) not a specialist, and I do sometimes wonder if what they prescribe is really looked into before hand, they just seem to hand tablets out willy nilly. Oh stupid me, I have just realised, you will be away at the cabin now, still never mind you can catch up when you get back. I hope that you get a buyer very soon.
I hope that everyone is well, and not melting in this heatwave. Take care, love to all. Mo xxx

I thought that these days with everything being computerised, that the pharmacist should also check that all medications are compatible. But maybe not.
