Ann

Treatment is ALWAYS up to you for the final decision

Gone are the days where the doctors dictated, and you obeyed without question.

In fact, here they want the patient and all family members to be heavily involved in all aspects of treatment discussions. They actually tell you to bring a family member (or close friend if no family member) to appointments. Of course, children need to be of a certain age ............... old enough to understand clearly what is happening, and I don't think ones under the age of 18 are encouraged to be at appointments.

Hello my lovelies.
I have just caught up with all your news, it's good to hear from you all.

Sylvia please give your OH, my condolences on the loss of his cousin.
I hope he has a comfortable journey back to the U.K,and that things are not to traumatic for him back here.
Will you mind being on your own Sylvia.?

Ann, your daughter will be in my thoughts when she has to see the oncologist.
Radiotherapy does sound like it would be the kinder option for her body, bless her she has been through enough worry.

Sallie, would you like to baby sit for my grandaughter next time it's needed.
Cor luv us, we looked after her last night. When we arrived, she was asleep in her baby walker. She had grabbed a cushion from the settee, laid her head on it, and fell asleep.
Two minutes after her parents went out, she woke up. She then proceeded to scream for most of the evening.
It took me from 7.30 through till 10.50 to get her back to sleep.
Poor little mite has no routine.
She should be on three solid meals a day, and in bed by a given time during the evening, so that mum and dad have their time together. But no, Lilly stays up till very very late.
She will be one year old on the 16th of this month, I can't believe how quickly the time has flown since her birth, it only seems like a few months ago, that I told you all of her birth.

Well we are still suffering from the high winds here, and it is bitterly cold outside.

Huia, don't forget to let us see the photo's of the new baby, will you love.
It sounds like you had a lovely time with the family, introducing the new arrival to everyone.

Take care my friends, love to all. Mo xxx

Poor Mo, I bet you were exhausted. these young parents do make a rod for their own backs don't they? Babies are so much happier with a routine.

Must go, deep in the throes of decorating the lounge. I am just the gofor but I do seem to have had plenty tod what with hanging the heavy curtains on the line to blow, then hoovering them off and sponging off stains (don't trust dry cleaners these days. Then wiping of all the little spots of paint where he who shall not be named didn't cover up the one piece of furniture at the far end of the lounge. I nipped to the shops and din't expect him to get that far with the ceiling and I covered everything else. Men!!!!

Jean just send the cards any time and I will put them on when I can. I am not decorating all the time as there is not always something for me to do except supervise :-D :-D
soon it will be time to put things back for today as the light has nearly gone and you can't paint walls in a bad light. Luckily today he managed to get the worst wall for the light done and the ceiling. Should finish the lounge end (L shaped lounge/dining room) tomorrow. Then the dining room end will be done on Tuesday with a day for golf in between.

Hello Girls,

Mo, I'm sure you must be feeling worn out after babysitting last night.

I can't understand why they didn't put her to bed before they went out. That's what we did with ours when my mother sometimes babysat for us. Mind that wasn't very often, as she lived in S Wales, so the only times that Alun and I went out together was when my mother was staying here in Derbyshire with us, or when we visited her.
Also, our two were always in bed early as they should have been.
Times have changed Mo from when we were bringing our children up.

Did you play darts on Thursday night, or have you stopped playing on Thursdays now?

Ann my dad always did all the decorating, and my mother would help him or as she called it ' the labouring'. She always said that the
' labouring ' was harder work than actually doing the wallpapering and painting, and that people only looked at what the one decorating had done and not what the helper or labourer had.

I hope by the middle of the week, your decorating will be finished. It will be nice when it's all done and looks new and fresh and clean.

Jean, pleased to know that D and J are both doing ok. Sorry about your legs not being very good, but it's nice that your mind is alright, as I'm sure will know.

I still can't get back into doing cards at the moment, I can't even get interested in looking at any of the craft magazines either. Oh well, it will come one day, I suppose.lol!!

Caz, I hope that you are alright, we haven't heard from you for a while.

Linda, Huia, Marie and Joyce, hope you are all okay and anyone else I might have forgotten.

It now looks as though we will either have to have a bigger radiator put in the living room or at least add another smaller one to it. It seems that the currant radiator is not big enough, for the size of the room. Apparently the people we bought the house from twenty years ago should have had a bigger one put in when they had it done.
The gas heating chap came this morning to check things over ready to start on Monday, so that was our news, more cost again.lol!!

Well, I'll speak to you all tomorrow.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Hi everyone.
Sallie, I really would have liked it, if Lilly had been put to bed, or even if she was in the habit of going up without the screaming ab dabs.
Like you, our children were always put to bed before we went out anywhere.
My parents only ever baby sat for us once, when our eldest was a baby. we were unavoidably detained, and got home at 10.10 p.m instead of 10.00 p.m,mum kicked up a real stink because we were late, so we never asked her again to look after any of our children.
We got a very reliable girls of sixteen, to look after them. And the money came in handy for her, as she was at college ,and needed that little bit of money to help her out.
We have only got two radiators in our through lounge/diner, but we do have the gas fire in the front sitting room,so we rarely have the central heating on.
When the engineer came to give our boiler it's yearly check over, on friday, he was saying how warm our house was, even without the C/H on. Mind you, we do have cavity wall insulation, and the loft is well lagged, so the house does stay nice and cosy for quite a long time with just the fire on.

I cant wait for the Dancing on Ice to start tonight, now thats a programme I really do like to watch.

Well my lovelies, take care of yourselves. Love and best wishes Mo xxx

Well just need to throw, sorry pack neatly everything into the cases before our drive to Gatwick tomorrow. I have several books to read and hope to mget through them all and do very little else, maybe some walking and touring, but mainly soaking up the sun and warming these poor old bones.
Be back in a couple of weeks so hope everyone will be Ok in case I don't get on in the morning

Sallie Report 8 Jan 2012 18:26

Mo, we also have a gas fire in our living room which I like to have on, I always think that it looks far more cosy with the fire on. Call me old fashioned if you likelol!! but I, like most of us on here grew up having a coal fire, so I think it comes from then, when our house always had a coal fire in the kitchen and then every afternoon there was another one lit in what we called the middle room, it was where we had the television and we could all sit in comfort.Oh they were lovely, happy days.

Well Alun and Michael have moved what furniture that needed to be moved in the dining room and pulled the carpet ready for the morning.
It will be nice to have it all done and hope that we feel the benefit after what it's costing us. Mind it's so long since our Central Heating has worked properly, I can't imagine it being as warm as it use to be before all the poblems. That's me, always looking on the negative side, I'm afraid.lolol!!

Jennie and Michael are also having to have a new gas boiler on Thursday, like us they have had trouble for a few years with it, so it's finally packed in......mind it's a lot older than ours, so can expect it.

Hello to all our other friends on here, hope you are all alright.

Speak to you soon.

Hi all

Thank you Sallie .......we did have a lovely meal!

Huia ...... what a lovely picture xxxxxx

Linda ..... I hope you have a lovely time away.

It seems to be the modern way to let kids do their own thing. I have to say that J&M always had MJ in bed early ............... but he was fed on demand, and "demand" was sometimes every hour :-0

She had MJ in the bed with her for a couple of months ................ M slept on the bed settee in the other room for all of that time.

MJ has been on what I would call a normal schedule since about last July ............... he's in bed by 7:00 pm, goes to sleep quickly, and usually takes around 6:00 or 6:30 am ............. although he will entertain himself for quite a time after that.

a quiet Sunday here!

Sallie ...... I hope installing your new radiator is a quick and smooth job!

I hope I am in time to wish Linda a lovely holiday, but I bet she has already gone, oh botherations.

Huia what a lovely photo of you and Baby. You look sooo proud, and have every right to be so.

Ahh Sylvia, I am so sorry to have missed your birthday.
Belated ((((((((((((((HUGS for you)))))))))))))))
I am glad you enjoyed your meal though.

Sallie, I hope the radiator installation is going well, and not to much chaos caused by it.

Whenever Roly does a job round the house, the clearing up is always left for me to do.
I get so frustrated,as I think he made the mess, he should clear it up, but it never happens that way.

Ann, your Daughter is in my thoughts and prayers. <3 <3 <3

Hello Girls,

Well they have finished for the day and will be back at eight in the morning to get all the rest done, as far as Alun can see there still seems to be a lot to be done. All the pipework for the new boiler is done ready to put it on the wall and thermostats have been put on all the radiators except for the new one that will be delivered tomorrow and of course put on.

The dining room and the second bedroom look as though a bomb has hit.lol!!
I had to take some tablets earlier because I started with a migraine, thankfully it is a lot better.

Mo, Alun and I both usually tidy up after he has been doing some DIY, he usually deals with the heavy things that I can't lift or carry.

Huia, lovely photo of you with your grtgranddaughter, you must feel so proud.

Ann, thinking of your daughter and hoping that her appointment tomorrow will have a good outcome.
Sending hugs and positive thoughts to her, you and all the family.

Jean, hope all is well with you and the family today.

Caz, if you are looking in, also hope that you are having a better day.
I am thinking about you.

Sylvia, nice to hear that J&M and MJ are all okay, I'm sure MJ has grown a lot since you last seen him. Have you seen any photos of him lately?

Hope Linda and OH will have a safe journey to their holiday destination. Not sure where they are going.

Hello to any of our other friends that are looking in and hope that you are all okay.

Extra positive thoughts for Ann,s daughter. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

I'll just copy this on here from the other thread in case nobody sees it there.

Daughter's main appointment was today and thankfully her case was so borderline that she has opted to go for R Therapy and tamoxafen and not chemo. She will get her RT programme tomorrow but it will probably start in two weeks time.

thank you for all your thoughts they have helped me along the way and I am sure have had some bearing on the results. <3 <3 <3

Hugs for you Ann <3 <3 <3
