morning all
quite a mild day here with frequent rain showers. daughter no2 feeling a little better and has decided to go for a bath, so I will be staying around as it will probably make her feel a little worn out after the effort, yesterday she just lay about on the couch.

Patrica you are a brave woman looking after two grandchildren all that time. trying to keep them occupied as well is not easy.
I have kept all my nursery school books (I worked in a nursery for 4 years)and all my art bits and peices so when my grandchild is much older and comes to stay I will have something I hope to keep her /he amused for a while.(my first grandchild's due date is a week to tomorrow(28th) I am getting very excited now.

Hi Fiona ,I hope you have as much fun with your wee one as I have with mine I,ve been "lucky" to have my daughter and her family live within 2 miles for all of the 8 years sh's been married. We also work together in our family firm so we shared childcare up until she stopped breastfeeding at 10 months then I stopped weekday working and looked after first Gregor and now Sophie.Though I sometimes moan about being tied I wouldn't change a thing. We're due our third grandchild in 17 days so Sophie will go to nursery next year and I'll have her Unclle Sandy's wee girl to care for.His partner Lisa's mum runs her own business so is unable to take her,and to be honest I don't want to miss out. Hope all goes well for your daughter

Oh ,its not fair, you all seem to be having grandchildren.I am like Pam and don't think we are likely to have any in the near future.
Just made sure my son has his passport after reading what your OH did Lizzie.
My BIL did that once when he was going to Brussels for a meeting. The company wizzed a courier on a motorbike to him home to pick his up ,and he made it just in the nick of time.
The wind is blowing so hard here at the moment I keep having to go and secure the Gazebo. The wooden peg things on the top keep coming out.
I must go and water the beans and tomatoes now,as with all the wind it will dry out the soil, and believe it or not we haven't really had much rain.
I have a very sweaty face today lol

Hi girls, yes a good idea AB to leave the garden jobs now...far too bloody hot for that!!

I am officially off my rocker I think...the reason? I chose one of the hottest days of the year in this area to go to Gt Yarmouth's Matalan store!!! It was heaving, my lip liner was down near my chin at one point and I'm sure everyone was was looking at me...and probably can't eat their tea 'cos of that offensive sweaty lady in Matalan!!! Yeah paranoia is another sympton of the change too I think!! Not being able to spell it too possibly could be another!! and then there was bugger all up there any good!! Bad language being another sign of the change!!

Hey ho, be back lkater girls when I've had a bit of tea and cooled down a bit,

Pam.

PS My spilling is getingg viry bid litley!!

You mention Paranoia as a symptom of the Change..........well,I used to take Chester walkies in the spinney which is a lovely(safe) place. But I found I was becoming a bit panicky when I was there, heartbeat up,and just wanting to leg it PDQ.I felt such an idiot as I couldn't understand why I should suddenly feel like that.....Honestly the things we have deal with!!!!!!!!!
Pam I cint sow wit is wrung wat yor spillin lol

Oh is now better, it's me that has problems! My blood pressure suddenly shot up yesterday to 194. and I had severe chest pain. Took two aspirin and rested. Was down to 174 in the night, but went to Drs this morning. Given frusemide on top of co-amilfruse, and an ace inhibitor, the name of which escapes me. Took the Frusemide at 1o'clock and have been peeing for Britain ever since! Has brought the blood pressure down to 134 and I feel better. Must say I was a bit worried for a while! Been told to slow down, thought for a moment I was going to stop!

Jane Report 20 Aug 2009 21:47

Do as you are told Jean....slow down (a bit) lol.Glad you are feeling better tonight. My sister has just been put on BP tablets and they are making her feel a bit queezy.Trial and error I think for a while.
Chris ,good to see your spelling is excellent LOL
Edit........sorry Christine

Afternoon girls, blimey what a clever bunch you are! Lizzie I have nothing but adnoration for your plumbing work...you not even get me into our loft let alone mend a leak!

AB I bet it looked funny on the stairs but hope that you're not too bruised! I'm getting a Tom and Jerry image come to mind!

Hope you're all ok, its not quite so hot today...slept in the spare bed last night, took a fan in with me and actually woke a bit chilly.

Off to the shops in a while, take care all and speak later i hope...just so long as i don't fall asleep again!

Hi everyone
Been busy shopping for daughter no2 she's over her flu and OH has taken her back home this afternoon.

My other daughter who is expecting , phoned to say that the midwife says all is well and she is to come back next Thursday for an internal examination and a membrane sweep which can sometimes stimulate the labour into progress , if she is still around by her next appointment which is 4Th September they will then arrange for her to go in the beginning of the following week(10th) for an induction, lets hope she had the baby before then.
sunny but cooler today than of late.

Jane Report 21 Aug 2009 18:05

Don't stinging nettles keep stinging for a long time.I put my hand in a bunch when I was picking the beans, about 3 hours ago.

Jane

Jane Report 21 Aug 2009 18:54

I will be more vigilant tomorrow when hopefully get some more beans.

Hi Fiona ,where is your daughter booked in? It seems each maternity unit has different ideas on how to manage the last weeks of pregnancy.Lisa is booked into Vale of Leven midwife unit and if everything goes well will be home within 12 hours of the birth. My daughter had her 2 in The Queen Mothers in Glasgow and I can't say I was overly impressed with the care she received ,although to be fair they kept her for a couple of days after each birth.I don't believe this new way of chucking them out within hours, especially first time mums when everything is so new and scary.

Jane

Jane Report 22 Aug 2009 10:51

Lizzie,my neighbours are always given a bottle of home made Sloe Gin every xmas by friends. They can't stand it,but haven't the heart to tell them.So it always comes to me !!!!!!!!!!!! It is delicious.
How many empty bottles do you need??? lol

I hope you all have a lovely weekend whatever you do or wherever you go.

Fiona

Fiona Report 22 Aug 2009 16:06

Afternoon everyone.
Patrica
My daughter lives in Motherwell. so she's booked into Wishaw Maternity Hospital. I am of the same thoughts as you about how long they keep mums in hospital after the birth. Especially first time mums, I really don't think my daughter has a clue about topping & tailing, and of course breastfeeding doesn't always come naturally. I think they discharge the mums 24hours after the baby is born if mum & baby are ok of course.
Both daughter and SIL have their own view on this and I know daughter wants to be home as soon as she can so she can get some sleep, of course I can't say anything mother poking her nose in where it's not wanted.LOL

Oooh Fiona ,breast feeding brings back some painful memories for me.I really tried but with cracked and bleeding nipples, and crying with pain everytime,I decided it wasn't doing either me or my babies any good.I lasted about a week with my first, and just a few days with the second. He was so greedy and just seemed to be latched on the whole time. The relief when I changed to the bottle was so good.I had 2 elective caesars.First one I was in for a week and the second 4 days. They didn't want me to go home then but my parents were staying with us and my Dad was very ill with Motor Neurone Disease and he wasn't keen on coming to the hospital ,so I just wanted to get home so we could all be together.
