♥Deetortrainingnewfys♥ Report 9 Mar 2009 20:15

I've been looking at the reviews on the internet. Its 50/50 with people who liked it and who did not.

It seems the biggest complaint is the cabins....too small and a bit shabby. Well, I won't know until I get there but so long as they are clean, I won't be spending much time in there! Its an old ship, so its bound to be a little shabby...isn't it?

Someone else said that the walls to the cabins we thin and you could hear everything. I'll have to take some cotton wool to put in my ears! Ha ha!

She is going for a fortnight.Have you got an inside or out side cabin? They have outside.

♥Deetortrainingnewfys♥ Report 9 Mar 2009 20:28

We went for an inside one. We were thinking of having one with a balcony, but the travel agent assistant said she had been on a cruise and had a balcony, but never used it because there is so much going on in the ship. The cost was several hundred pounds more, so we went for an inside cabin because I think they said most of the outside cabins had L shape single beds, the inside cabin beds can be pushed together.

Jane Report 9 Mar 2009 20:40

You don't spend much time in your cabin, the only thing with an inside one is you have no porthole or window. As long as your beds are fine then ..enjoy your anniversary lol

Ahh, now we thought about not having a port hole too...... during the day, we will be either on a trip, or enjoying what is offered on the rest of the trip. At night - what can you see out of the port hole? Sea? no - pitch black! He he.

Besides, you don't pay all that money to go on a cruise, just to stay in the cabin, do you?

If we have problems with docking and have to stay on the boat, there is always the TV in the cabin.

I think my sister says you have a couple of places where you have to have the tender boat to take you to shore.

♥Deetortrainingnewfys♥ Report 9 Mar 2009 21:08

Where did she get that info? We were wondering about that...its such a big boat!

Jane

Jane Report 9 Mar 2009 21:18

Just rang her again but she is asleep!! Her Oh doesn't know anything about tenders. It would only be if the water isn't deep enough for the ship to dock.

Helen
Tell your sister, that I will be the one on the flight making a nuisance of myself - as per my doctors instructions!

I had a pulmary embolism after an opp last year and have been told to move around the aeroplane as much and as ofter as I can! So, I'll be the one walking up and down blocking the aisle, he he he.

Dee, please make sure that you get up and walk about often also drink lots (especially water) and move the legs around when sitting down. I hate flying as we usually go from Southampton but this holiday we had no choice. The flight was 9 hours and it just flew past. The inflight movies TV etc was good. The food was OK and in next to no time we had arrived. I had always said that I would never fly but have no qualms now.
Just make sure that you do whatever advised by your GP/Surgeon. Good luck.

LOL........................ Oh yes I remember trying to put those on after a shower in the hotel we stayed overnight at.......... I looked more like Nora Batty.
First thing I took off when we got into our cabin.

♥Deetortrainingnewfys♥ Report 9 Mar 2009 22:13

I am reluctant to where them as I am not convinced they do anything, but I don't want to risk getting another emoblism. I wore the stockings right after my op and for 8 weeks, day in, day out and I still got the clot! I'm OK now after having a 5 month cause of Rat poison. So I just need to do as I am told. (will hide them under my jeans. Ha Ha! I'll be the one sweating like a pig!

♥Deetortrainingnewfys♥ Report 9 Mar 2009 22:14

So if you see someone (short) walking up and down, sweating like a pig.....please say hello! It will give me an excuse to get out of my seat again and come on over to chat! Ha Ha!

Jane Report 9 Mar 2009 22:33

♥Deetortrainingnewfys♥

♥Deetortrainingnewfys♥ Report 9 Mar 2009 22:38

Ha Ha! if you like! But if she says it to the other folks walking up and down the aisle....she might get some funny looks!

♥Deetortrainingnewfys♥ Report 13 Mar 2009 17:37

2 wks to go...... have booked our appointment with the nurse at the surgery to get out inoculations......4 each, and have bought my malaria tablets which we only have to take for Dominican Republic.

Hope we don't get any reactions from the jabs!

Jane

Jane Report 13 Mar 2009 18:23

My sister hasn't mentioned jabs!!!!! I better ring her.Good job you have mentioned that.
She laughed when I said that you had said it would be like looking for yourself lol.
Just rung and she hasn't been told they need anything but will now check it out.

SilverLady

SilverLady Report 13 Mar 2009 18:29

Most places you do not need any jabs but its always better to be safe than sorry. We had our jabs as well and the anti-malaria tabs (recommended for the Dom Rep). I am counting down the days with you as well Dee................... and still wish that I was going back. Lol.
