Theresa (Cork, Ireland) 157164 Report 9 Mar 2009 17:49

I mentioned over the weekend that a friends 14month old has been diagnosed with neuroblastoma. We now know that she has stage 4 and has only been given a 30% chance of survival.

She has 4 tumours. The primary is on her adrenal gland and the 3 secondaries are in her brain. She is undergoing an operation at this time to try and remove most of the adrenal tumour and if she recovers well from that she will be starting chemo on Wednesday or Thursday.

Mum and Dad are with her in Dublin but her older brother who is not quite 3 is still here with his Aunty and Uncle.

If positive thoughts have any good I know they are available in abundance here. Please pray for this little girl and her family.....

love Theresa

Thanks everyone,

I have just heard that when they went in to get the primary tumour they discovered it had too great a blood supply to remove. They have decided to wait and see if chemo will shrink the main tumour (and its blood supply) on the adrenal gland enough for it to be removed in surgery.

Not sure when chemo will start at the mo but mid week has been suggested....

This is such a cruel condition for children and their families.
