At school
liberty bodices with rubber buttons worn in the winter
thick black woollen stockings also worn iin the winter held up by suspenders
black knickers - shirt removed had to used for sports/gym
Short trousers for boys

Marbles were called glarnies in my part of the Midlands - I had a massive tin of them some quite beautiful ones.
Then of course toy wise I had a tin fire station and garage with Corgi and Dinky cars all probably coated in lead loaded paint

yes bob she did .. also a pop bottle wrapped it a towel not boiling water though..the thought of the ice on the inside of the windows brrrrrrrrr and a coet throw on top of bedding lol

yes they where delicate lol...broke a couple myself...

can remember my brother giving the ragman my dads gold watch lol. he gave him a goldfish gawd did he get a hiding my dad ran after the ragman lol

yes with those mantles get back home and if you put the match to close to light it and it was back to the shop

yes it did bob.. can picture my mom cooking ..mind you didnt like cleaning them.. mom had a boiler to had to light a fire to underneath to heat the water to wash it was huge ...use to go to the shop with a big penny to fetch a gas mantle ..think thats the right word ..

we used to have those old black grates,the food always seemed to taste better cooked on one of those,or maybe the raw ingredients were better
we always used to call jacks five stones because we used to play with stones,i think the name jacks came later
i could be wrong

we used to have those "jacks" came in a little bag and you had to throw them and see how many you could catch on back of your hand.

yes the kids of to-day miss out on a lot of simple pleasures.
we used to go down the local council tip looking for bike parts and pram wheels to make trollys digging about with the rats.cant do it nowadays health and safety.by the amount of old people about,didnt do us no harm
