if you remember the "dustbin"

it was a galvanised steel bin, and a Dustman carried it on his shoulder to the dust cart.from outside your front door.
if it was a bit heavy, his mate gave him a hand up with it!!

in earlier days, the dustcart was pulled by a "norse"

and a lorry would come and swap the full cart with a empty one.....,

when nearly all men wore a cheesecutter flat 'at.

Linoleum. I used to sell it in the local Co-op when I was at college (evening work).

I loved the smell of it and the strange, but sometimes lovely patterns. I even became involved in measuring and fitting it and am still a dab hand at laying the modern (and much inferior) Vinyl.

Trivia: The name comes from Lin (seed) Oleum (Oil). and the other main component is cork, mostly from Portugal or Spain. :-)

Remember most of the list unfortunately. No on second thoughts wouldn't have wanted to miss any of it.

I can remember running for a bus and jumping on the back while it was moving then getting off when the driver slowed down in traffic.. All in stiletto heels. Can't even stand up in a pair now. Have kept a pair to prove to my g.daughters that I've been there, done that lol.

Really know it when I find myself saying. " now in my day " :-)
