As a footnote from myself i am going to write to Genes Reunited and ask them wether they feel that the 1911 census will ever become available on this site, so we can view it like other census's, and maybe if that could be possible when would they think what year that maybe. it's sound very possible like some beleive here, it will never be available to view here ever. only time will tell

Hi Brian,
I for one accept your apology and hope you've now learned that there are many people on Genes who are not obliged to help newbies like yourself but do so because they want to.
If you're really desperate for the 1911 census information and can't progress without it, I'm hoping to pop to Kew in the next couple of weeks. If you pm me all the information you have then if there's a free machine when I'm there I'll have a look for you. If not and you don't get the information beforehand, I'll try the next time I go.

Hi Brian, I'm sure that one day the 1911 census will become veiwable in the same fashion as the other censuses. This maybe a few yrs though. If you're getting stuck with your tree without the use of the 1911 census. There are 3 options.
1, Visit Kew to acces the records
2, Purchase credits on FMP (60 credits = £6:50. searches are free. But view transcript is 10 credits, to view images is 30 credits) I know this is pricey. But should give you a good foot hold to take your family back into the 1901 censuses etc. And cheaper than travelling costs to Kew.
3, To ask very nicely on Trying to Find board, if there is anyone with spare credits to do a search for you. Purchased credits are time limited to 90 days. So there are likely to be some members, who'll soon have credits that they'll have to use or lose. Or have credits remaining after completing their searches.
Happy Hunting Steve.
EDIT 4th option. A kind lady offers to do a search for you at kew.

Have you seen the deeds, they should tell you who owned the house at that time.
I'm not sure if the old electoral registers would be of use, I've so far not had to use them.
If there are names on them it might be worth searching the trees on genes or even googling the names.

Hi Brian, It could be worthwhile starting a new thread to trace those who you'd like to forward them to. You should have enough pieces of the jigsaw to enable members to help you with this. House address & town. Recipients name or partial name & reference of family names in the postcard. Senders name or partial name, reference to their family members. Town & date stamp mark on postage.
I think this would make an interesting thread. As well as uniting the postcards to the family, you'd also be able to provide a backgroung history of those behind it.
Steve.

thats something i have been so willing to do steve i could not only reunite the post cards but also let the relations know how and where i found them wouldn't that be great if we were them. recently via genes then google i learned where my g g grandfather died in a sinkinking of a ship that sailed from southampton and learned so much very quickly and from lots of info that is online , how great it would be to pass all the information inc the first world war relation that has sent cards from the somme. brian:@)

Hi Brian, The best place to put the thread is on "Trying to Find" board. To do this, click on "Trying to find". Then just under the title in the list of subjects, click on New Topic Put the title In the title box. In the text box 1st give a brief discription. ie You have postcards dating from circa 1914 that you'd like to try to find the descendants of & forward too. Then below this give all relevent info on the cards, in a clear & concise way. So that we can help you.
Regards Steve.
EDIT. PS this has got me curious & will help where I can. Interesting to see where the trail ends.
