Morning everyone Well it is chilly here, but hoping for another dry day as I have a 4th load in the washing machine, the problem is getting things dry. Saw baby Joshua yesterday. He has grown. His parents are getting used to their new role too.Took him a small gift from France. In the evening had a meal with friends. They had our tortoise whilst we were away. as he had torn a claw in his foot the day before we were off to France and he had to be given antibiotics, always at the wrong time eh? Well he was fine and is back with us and now we need to settle him down for his hibernation. Off to see my Mum today with my cousin, her last relation of that generation. Our youngest is coming too. Tomorrow off to see Sebastian and his Mum.
Cath I am glad you are enjoying your grandchildren more now. It is hard work looking after little ones. And a hard decission we made not to look after our own as I had been a childminder for 24 years. But we need our retirement and it's freedom. But will willingly be on call when needed and hopefully take them away too in the future.
Huia I have now seen the "angel " you and love the picture. Do you have a date for your charity scalping?
Sorry I did miss Hazel off the friends, haven't seen her for a while.
Marilyn so sorry about your cousin and hope things go well for him. Also of course for Pete with his medication.
Well need to get myself sorted. So I'll be off.

This farmer had a wife who nagged him all the time.
One day while he was outside ploughing the field, she came out and started nagging him.
While she was doing this, his mule kicked her and she died.
At the funeral, the ladies came up and talked to the farmer. The farmer nodded his head "yes".
The men came up and talked to him and the farmer nodded his head "no”.
Well this other man wondered why he nodded his head "yes" to the ladies and "no" to the men.
Then, he went up to the farmer and asked him why.
The farmer replied,” Well, when the ladies came up, they told me how pretty my wife's dress was and how pretty she looked.
When the men came up, they asked,’ That mule for sale?'

Morning Folks !
Cold , clear and frosty this morning, Lovely.
Cath, Nice to see you back on the Thread. We only see our grandchildren now and again and it's a real pleasure when we do. We know so many grand parents that are tied down as you were to the school run etc that they get worn out and it takes all the pleasure out of being with the children. Sometimes it's essential to enable the family to keep going financially, but if it's to maintain a life of luxury then that's when I would call a halt to being a childminder.
Jean , Yep a busy day again. Thankfully I keep well enoiugh to keep going. I have had a few friends that 'retired' totally and very quickly finished up in a wooden box. I'll just 'keep on trucking' while I can. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
Thank goodness the Thread is a bit busier now.......I was getting rather lonely. :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
Have a good day ya all !
Keep well . keep safe , keep smiling :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Jean, I am in the Hunua Hills about 35km south of Papatoetoe. My husband is in a care home in Mangere. I have a relative in Whangamata, although I have only visited the place a couple of times. We used to have holidays up the coast from there at Whitianga.
I was told my hearing was not bad enough for a cochlear implant :-| It was a different woman from the one I had before. She tested my hearing and said there was no change, but then when she looked at my file she said I had these aids since 2004. That is utter rot. I checked up when I got home and I got them 18 months ago. She did suggest getting new aids of a different brand but I told her I had no intention of throwing good money after bad. I have never been satisfied with these. I guess I will have to give up going to gatherings, and if I cant hear somebody on the phone I will tell them to send me an email. But I am going to a class reunion next Saturday. I just hope I can hear enough of what is said.

Morning all, Marilyn so sorry to read about your cousin. I hope the treatment can help him.
Its another wet day :-( I find myself looking forward to spring already, lol. I am fed up with wet washing all over the house :-S
I am enjoying my quiet child free afternoons and getting on with all manner of little jobs that need doing and also working on my tree. As I'm not seeing the little ones all the time it's much more fun when I do see them as I'm not completely exhausted and I certainly don't miss the school run :-D
Take care, and have a good day folks, <3 <3 <3

Linda, I am on this page. Didnt you recognise me in my Angel outfit?
Today I am going to the hearing aid place to see if they will recommend me for a free cochlear implant. I am fed up with the hearing aids I have. They do not do what I want them to. :-|

Oooh thank goodness, I have managed to get onto this thread at long last. This is the second day that it hasn't allowed me to get in, but, hey I am here now.
Linda, it's good to hear from you. I did remember that you had family coming, but didn't realise it was for so long a period. Sorry to hear you got wet in France. Mind you, we were no better off here, it was either wet or windy most of the time.
I bet you thought I had deserted the ship Stephen, but no, here I am back again. Have you have the lassies with you this weekend?
Marilyn, how sad to read about your cousin. There has been a lot of people who worked in Chatham dockyard, on the submarines, that have been diagnosed with asbestosis (sp) A good friend of Roly's was diagnosed really late in the day, and unfortunately we lost him. There have been a lot of families who are suing because of their loses. Years ago, no body knew of the dangers that it would bring to those working on the subs. In fact, there are houses built on the site of the old dockyard site. As Roly said, anyone who bought one was asking for problems, as a lot of the radio active waste was discharged there. When the Dreadnaught came into dock, a lot of the rags that were used on it were buried on the site. I hope that the treatment works for him love.
Has anyone heard how Rita is faring at the moment?
Bye for now everyone. I will try and get back tomorrow lol Mo

Oh dear .....I cant believe it....I sent a posting yesterday but somehow it did not POST !!
It was such a long one all about my cousins illness .. :-S
Cant see how that could have happened ???? what's going on with GR ? :-S
So to briefly tell you HE has started his treatment of chemo on Friday and is in fairly good spirits .
We were bought up together as his Dad & my Mum were siblings....we were both in the same class years at school together, and lived very near one another.
We don't know how he got Asbestos cancer only that he worked in the dockyard on pipes !! also he has a tumour on his lungs of which the team are trying to shrink first before they operate. So now we are all aware in the family things will be better for him as he kept it to himself for 4weeks.......poor man.
Its a great sunny day ......washing on the line and more to put in .
Stevey ...where you aware that Huia lives in New Zealand ...only I noticed you mentioned about her being up early in the morning in one of your posts !
Cath get a sledge hammer for that brick wall of yours ....much easier :-D
Linda ...great to see you back ...you have been missed . now all we want is Rita & Pauline well........ :-)
Dont know what's happend to Shelly or Hazel ... :-S
off for me bath ......XX

Morning to all the Friendlies Sorry I have been away for too long. My cousin is here from Canada for the next 2 weeks and has been here already for 2 weeks. We have just returned from a week in a rather damp Normandy France. I had the wretched labyrinthitis back before we went away and a chest infection, was prescribed antibiotics and dizzy pills again. Have to make an appointment at the ENT hospital now I am back. Hope to get some help to control it if not a cure.
I have seen photos today of both the grandsons and they are changing so much and growing. Need to see them in the next few days.
I hope Rita and Jean are feeling better even with the horrid side effects of their treatment.
How is Pauline? I haven't seen her add recently, so hope her back isn't giving too much trouble.
Marilyn I was so relieved that Pete is OK and he may have issues with his medication, hope he gets it sorted.
Mo hope you are better too and that the family problems will get sorted, so hard.
Cath hope you get on better with your family tree, which tree are you using now? How was your weather last week ? It was pretty wet in France
So many names missing........... Shelly, Posh, Huia, Liz........... I hope they are Ok.
Stephen Thanks for still being here I love reading your "smiles", though todays took 2 reads !!!! LOL
Will try to add when I can and keep in touch.

Hello all, sorry for neglecting the friendly thread :-( but I no longer use my tree on here and have been busy breaking down a brickwall elsewhere. I did try and use the new tree but the frustration was driving me crazy so I decided to abandon ship as they say. I didn't mean to abandon the friendlies as well. I haven't read back yet but hope everyone is well. Will make an effort to pop in more often. <3 <3 <3 to all,
Cath xx

A Wee Chuckle for the day
Early one morning, a mother went in to wake up her son.
"Wake up, son. It's time to go to school!"
"But why, Mum? I don't want to go."
"Give me two reasons why you don't want to go."
"Well, the kids hate me for one, and the teachers hate me, too!"
"Oh, that's no reason not to go to school. Come on now and get ready."
"Give me two reasons why I should go to school."
"Well, for one, you're 52 years old. And for another, you're the Principal!"
