Jill that's amazing about your son, I can imagine this little chap watching Deanna Durbin.
Ann your right about the lovely Sandra Dee, she was like a doll wasn't she. I think it was drink related, she never remarried after her and Bobby Darin split, don't think she got over it. They have a son, Dod Darin, who wrote a book about them both, they actually met on the film set of Come September.
Ed, Milla Jovovich was in a film with the lovely James Purefoy, called Resident Evil...think we'd both enjoy that one!! lol.
Yes The Green Mile, which I saw for the first time this year, very disturbing in parts, but none the less a great film.

oh - forgot James Cagney in Yankee Doodle Dandy - what a brilliant dancer that man was - so unexpected - so light on his feet - just love watching it every time it comes on

watched Gregory Peck in The Big Country over the holiday period - brill

you mentioned Bobby Darin - love him to bits - Kevin Spacey did a great rendition of him in the biop of his life in "Beyond the Sea - so sad he died so young, and lovely Sandra Dee died in the past year

Well, I've never heard of James Purefoy so I shall keep an eye out for him ...

When my son was very young (about 2 years old or so) they played a season of Deanna Durbin films and he was completely rivetted. He would lay on the floor as close to the TV as he could get and there would be no moving him until the films finished! He totally denies this nowadays - he's nearly 30. But he has a love of films that I have never seen in anyone else. He's one of those who can do the 6 steps from one character to another, quite often in less than 6 steps ... beats me!

Jill lot's of women like Alan Rickman don't they. I think he's ok, but if I had to... it would be the gorgous James Purefoy, dribble dribble!!!! He was in a lovely film called Jilting Joe and played Mark Anthony in Rome. Corrrr!!!! He's been in quite a few films, and apart from being very easy on the eye he's a good actor with lovely brown eyes and a lovely body!

Where's that cold shower....oh young man! ha ha. ☺

I'm with most of the Harrison Ford films - although I prefer him when he's a bit grubby round the edges!

Hi Jackie thanks for your post. Yes we all have films that we can watch over and over again don't we. Gregory Peck was so handsome. I will have to keep a look out for that film, it sounds a good one. He's still alive I believe, although he must be a good age.

Hello Dorothy, I haven't seen that film, but the title sounds familiar. My film tastes vary so much,I Ilike a good war film, gangster, romance anything really as long as it's well made. Don't like the Die Hard, Leathel Weapon cr*p! Far to 'over the top' for me!!

Pam - perhaps you'd also like Beuena Sera, Mrs. Campbell - with Gina Lollobriga, Phil Silvers and Telly Savalas - very amusing and lovely!

Another one of my favourite films...some might say it's a bit corny but it cheers you up on a miserable day here in the UK is...'Come September', starring Rock Hudson, Gina Lollabridgida, Sandra Dee and Bobby Darin.

It's just so lovely as it's set in Italy and the skies are so blue, the women are dressed so feminin and with style. Pure escapism from this 'in ya face world!!!'
Got a humourus veign running through it and all the actors are on top form. Love this film.

Ann it is a brilliant film, got it off e bay, it's very rare.
