Hi all,

Hope the interview went well Ed.

Yes David Carradine found dead...don't mean this in a disrespectful way atall, but my hubby often puts biscuits in front of his eyes and says "Grasshopper", to me, in that asian accent, always makes me laugh, he's such a daft sod. Didn't he committ suicide? (David Carradine) not my hubby. Very sad. lots of satrs have died in hotelbedrooms haven't they, my lovely Michael Hutchince, Tony Hancock and loads more.

That's agood age isn't it for Ernest Borgnine, think we've mentioned that Eli Wallach is still alive too.

wonder what the secret is...keep away from drugs i suspect.

Pam.

Just seen on the news that David Carradine has been found dead in a hotel room in Bangkok.

Thought he was a great actor - loved him in "Kung Fu" as Kwai Chang Caine - that was an iconic TV series of the 70s. I also enjoyed him in a film I mentioned many posts back - "The Long Riders" in which he played Cole Younger.

"Grasshopper - when you can snatch the pebble from my hand, it is time for you to go"

Wow I've been missing stuff here the last couple of days!

Yes David - the Vikings, love that film - Kirk Douglas as "Einar One-Eye", Tony Curtis as Eric and let's not forget Ernest Borgnine as Ragnar (did you know Ernest Borgnine is now 92 and still going strong?) Oh and Janet Leigh as Morgana the love interest.

Also, Morgana's maid was played by Dandy Nichols - AKA Else Garnett the "silly old moo" from Til Death do us Part.

Seen it loads and loads of times, I can hear the auroch horns being blown now ...

Da-daaa-da, da-daaa-da, dada-dada-dada-dada-dadaaaaaa ....

Makes me want to grow my hair and plait it, dress up in furs, get the two-handed axe off the wall and row my longship up to Northumbria so I can do some pillaging ...

The late Richard Burton also had that kind of voice Pam

He was the narrator between the music in Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds

Hi all,

Yes Nicky if I'm feeling a bit frumpish when hubby comes in from work I just rip the old bottom half off and dappen my hair and wow instant sex goddess!! LOL LOL!

David yes he is the narrater of The World at War, marvellous series. I still watch it now. Sadley though most of the chaps talking on there who didn't appear too od are now gone, it was made in the early seventies i believe. He wasn't one of my favourite actors olivier, but his voice was just right for that, he knew how to put that veil of sarcasm in when talking.

Yes Nicky, Geminis can 'Gaw' as my nan would say!

Laurence Olivier certainly was an excellent actor.
I remember him in Spartacus, in Rebecca, even have the video of him as Richard 111

Wasn't he the narrator of the TV seriers World at War ?

Yes Pam.....Jamie Lee Curtis is the daughter of Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis....no wonder shes so striking to look at, shes played some very good film roles, loved her in My Girl, but my favourite has to be True Lies with Arnie Schwarzanegger {sp??}......the bit where shes off to the hotel room to meet him, and catches a glimpse of herself, realising she dosn`t quite look the part in the next few seconds she turns from frump to Vamp, by ripping off the bottom of her dress, and the sleeves, and damping her hair down with the water from the vase of flowers....its a classic scene and always makes me chuckle.....have any of you seen it?

Over 1000 posts, my we Geminis can certainly chatter......

Spartacus David.......one of OHs favourites, along with Ben Hur and Zulu.....with the footie season at a close he`ll be watching ALL of them in the next few weeks probably, and out will come the DVD box sets of Lord of the Rings and Star Wars............ roll on August and the return of the football....Lol

If you like Humphrey Bogart I recommend The Caine Mutiny and SAHARA . In Sahara he plays a tank commander in North Africa.
And how about him as Charlie in The African Queen ?
He was a star !

Yes David "Some Like it Hot", with one of my favourites George Raft. A wonderful dancer was George, and he played the leading man in "Bolero" with the lovely Carol lombard...my dad's pin up. I could go on and on.

Yes Elizabeth Carey Grant, he was very handsome and he and Deborah Kerr made a lovely couple.

Think Janet Leigh was Jamie Lee Curtis' mum David.

While we are talking about Tony Curtis, some of his memorable roles are The Vikings with Kirk Douglas and Spartacus, again with Kirk Douglas. I think he starred with Jack Lemon and Maralin Monroe in a black and white comedy and even as The Boston Strangler

Bit of trivia, his former wife Janet Leigh was the naked blonde that Norman Bates murdered in the shower scene in PSYCHO

Dear All

Here's to the next 1000 posts!

I raise my cup of tea to you all!

Two classic films I can watch again and again:

"Casablanca", Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.
Every character and scene is flawless.

"An affair to remember". The guy is Cary Grant and the girl is
Deborah Kerr- what more do you need for a romantic film?

Very best wishes to all
xx

Anyone watched Ladette to Lady on ITV?

OMG those Aussie girls are such a laugh! Why turn them into ladies - they looked and acted fine to me (snigger).

They were late arriving at the finishing school - they ran riot on the plane over from Oz and the police were called.

Funniest thing was when they were hosting a cocktail party for some "eligible batchelors" - the cream of the upper class apparently. One of them said (after a few tinnies) "Bunch of inbred t***ers" .

Best program on TV at the moment.

Your course sounds very complex Ed...... I always admire people from our generation who work in IT, we wern`t brought up with computors like the youngsters of today, and using one as I do now for my hobby and chatting with you lot, theres still an awful lot i don`t know..... So good luck with it all, and hope you land the right job soon.

Think i`ve seen Waterloo Bridge Pam, a bit soppy, but like you say a rainy sunday afternoon film.......

Sorry David, never heard of your Pink Submarine, only know about The Beatles Yellow one........

Talking of Tony Curtis did anyone see him on The One Show the other week? he didn`t look very well, and seemed a bit out of sorts, not really knowing what was being said etc.......he pretty old now, I think in his 80s, but was extremely handsome in his youth.

Yes David that's right. He and Carey Grant ended up marrying two of the ladies in the film didn't they? I liked the ending when Carey Grant's "Wife" came to pick him up by the quay and nearly wrecked the place with her driving! Lovely film.

Tony Curtis was a dab hand at "aquiring" things, even pink paint

Never seen that one Pam - or at least I don't think so!

Just got confirmation for my next interview - they've moved it to Thursday morning now, which is fine by me. Better make sure I don't go to bed too late tomorrow night!

I'd also better get on with finishing my little 'un's bedroom as well (OH got me decorating to keep me out of the pub!)

Be back later with some films!
