this past 3 months i decided to back off from genes .take a step back as we say.watching how certain people behaved made my stomach turn.last year being targeted by a certain person made me realise how important my REAL mates on here were to me.
watching members [some who i never saw eye to eye with]get ill pulled things into prospective for me.
watching members twist things to make them sound nice ,dear god how low to people go .
well my membership is soon up.i always said no-one would ever put me in a position to make me want to leave.well they have,nt...I HAVE.
look at the top of page 1.a lovely lady who put so much of her time into helping us all gain the knowledge of our ancestors has died.
BERNICE you were so helpfull to me.god has gained a fantastic lady,we have lost someone so special.To me she was genes re-united.what we are all about.ANCESTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ive been on meets and met some fantastic people .dissapointed by the odd one but in all had a great time.
i cant help but feel admin could do much more.im not critisising but its a family history site not a bare knuckle fist fighting ring.and in all honesty i just cant be a---d anymore.my hot match,s are minimal,
so this will leave me more time for my warbook.lol.
by the way it sure helps get rid of frustrations .we thrashed another alliance last nite.zero,d um.god our guys are fit.pmsl.
so...........only a few more days left....take care to those who are my mates...to those that aint....ESADUB.lol....figure it out.xxxjoyous

I'm on my way out too...membership runs out on the 27th and I will not be renewing. Why should I spend a tenner to come on here and read c**p???
I do have a few friends on here but they already have my email/msn addy so I can stay in touch with them....the rest can stay and fight amongst themselves

Joy I agree with everything you have said,

Too many times we log on to find people fighting and bitching, people who have never met seem to think that it is ok to slag each other off, to drag their familes into arugments and generally be downright vile !!

On the other hand you have people on tips and records who go out of their way to help and support.

The admin of GR are unable or unwilling to stamp out the trouble causers.

I will follow the same route as you and will not be driven out but I will not renew when I'm due.

The minority are spoiling these boards for the majority and I hope GR will do what should have been done years ago and put moderators on the boards 24/7 and let the mindless feuding sides go find somewhere else to spew their vile

Sorry to see any member go................I wish both of you a happy life and successful tree building.

I felt the same a while back and have just dipped my toe in again to see if it has improved.

Perhaps you wil return if Genes do something about these boards.

It is always sad to see any of the long time members leaving. despite all the problems on here I still think it is a mostly good place to spend some time. I steer clear of problem threads. I don't think the recent spat of blogs has helped the site at all but only when what is on them overspills on to here. so it is up to us to keep other sites and blogs where they belong.

Good luck in what you choose to do. maybe return some time in the future.

I'm sorry to see people go, somewhat ignorant of the flareups etc., but hate to see anyone unhappy when this site is supposed to be about family and connections. I have to say I have 'met' some amazing people on here, including reconnection with a family member who had been lost to me for over 30 years. This site can truly be a 'sanity break' for me and many others I'm sure.
Whatever your reasons I wish you well with your research.
