On the other hand, 'sex' has been the lot of humanity since Adam & Eve. It was not the apple on the tree but the pair on the ground that caused the trouble in the Garden of Eden.

Nothing much has really changed!

No I don't have any sympathy at all. They had already been warned once by the police that their behaviour was not acceptable but they still carried on.

You have to appreciate that this is a strictly religious regime (OK it doesn't apply to the Royals).

When friends have worked there and in Saudi they were warned....you are caught with alcohol you are deported.. no ifs, ands or buts. If the appropriate Internal Ministry doesn't deport you, we your employer will!

Yeah so what , they are both consenting adults....and they both got 3 mths, you could knock down a 5yr and kill or hurt them for life, having sex isnt the end of the world or news really is it , if they dont want them to get drunk and misbehave then stop selling alcohol...edited 10 times

Uggers Report 16 Oct 2008 21:32

George, people have been having sex on the beach in this country since there were people and beaches.

George_of_Westbury

George_of_Westbury Report 16 Oct 2008 21:30

So those of you who think it was OK are you also advocating that we should allow sex on our beaches or perhaps in the town centre just because someone is drunk.
I am begiining to wonder where this country is going to.

Kay????

Kay???? Report 16 Oct 2008 21:26

Its a strict country with very strict rules,,regards public conduct,, ,they were in a public area seen to be acting outside their laws, which pays concequences,

Sorry but we always hear ''when in Rome" and that applies there in the eyes of their laws,as it should in any other country which you are living,

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 16 Oct 2008 21:19

Ok it was against the law of that country...........BUT ........who has never made a mistake or got carried away?. As long as both were consenting adults, which I understand they were, then enough damage has been done already. Leave her be I say xx

Marion, you might have been joking, but I think I agree with you!!!

I have a great friend who is an Iraqi. He came to college here about 30 years ago and can't go home because he married an English girl - he says he would either have to join the army or be executed. They have 4 great kids who have never seen their Iraqi grandparents' home.

I know we make fun but the Middle East take their religion and heritage much more seriously than we do ours and visitors to their wonderful countries should bear this in mid.

Yes I do.....I am sure they (as there are 2 of them) are not the first to have sex on a beach and not the first to be caught but the first to make it on news at 10 on the national news. She has already lost her job.

Uggers

Uggers Report 16 Oct 2008 21:09

I feel a bit sorry for them. I haven't read much about it and I'm sure they knew the rules but a lot of us have had one too many and got carried away:)

Dermot

Dermot Report 16 Oct 2008 21:09

Kay???? - some try to ignore the laws of this country too - and we let them 'get away with it'! Of course, we have different laws for the rich & the poor - but, that's another topic perhaps.

George_of_Westbury Report 16 Oct 2008 20:58

No i don't, especially in a country where the laws are enforced therefore you should abide by them, Some people think the law is for someone else not them. They should consider themselves lucky they only got 3 months, then deported
If it happened in this country they probably would been given an ASBO, then sued the council for getting sand in the wrong places.

Got what they deserved, pity our laws are not enforced.
