Kay???? Report 16 Oct 2008 21:26

Its a strict country with very strict rules,,regards public conduct,, ,they were in a public area seen to be acting outside their laws, which pays concequences,

Sorry but we always hear ''when in Rome" and that applies there in the eyes of their laws,as it should in any other country which you are living,

So those of you who think it was OK are you also advocating that we should allow sex on our beaches or perhaps in the town centre just because someone is drunk.
I am begiining to wonder where this country is going to.

Uggers

Uggers Report 16 Oct 2008 21:32

George, people have been having sex on the beach in this country since there were people and beaches.

Yeah so what , they are both consenting adults....and they both got 3 mths, you could knock down a 5yr and kill or hurt them for life, having sex isnt the end of the world or news really is it , if they dont want them to get drunk and misbehave then stop selling alcohol...edited 10 times

You have to appreciate that this is a strictly religious regime (OK it doesn't apply to the Royals).

When friends have worked there and in Saudi they were warned....you are caught with alcohol you are deported.. no ifs, ands or buts. If the appropriate Internal Ministry doesn't deport you, we your employer will!

No I don't have any sympathy at all. They had already been warned once by the police that their behaviour was not acceptable but they still carried on.

On the other hand, 'sex' has been the lot of humanity since Adam & Eve. It was not the apple on the tree but the pair on the ground that caused the trouble in the Garden of Eden.

Nothing much has really changed!

Uggers
Of course they have ,but that doesn't mean it is legal, nor does it mean you can in countries that have a lesser view on morality than we do.
Incidentally i am not a prude but i wouldn't like to be walking along a beach with my grandchildren and see that sort of thing. There is enough of the drunken yobbo culture in this country,

Uggers Report 16 Oct 2008 21:43

lol Dermot.

I don't think anyone has said they weren't in the wrong and shouldn't have known better. We all know them's the rules there and they have to face the consequences. But the question was whether we have any sympathy or not and I do cos I've regretted many a morning after a few glasses too many.

Well...... I do and I don't... yep, they broke the law of the land they were visiting..... but heck... some of the people of that land break ours with impunity and sooooo get away with it!!

Maybe they thought that a reciprocal arrangement is made with the judiciary of both countries.

Me? I don't trust our own judicial procedures, and due process of law, lol.... sure as heck I don't trust any other country!!

I try not to be judgemental myself as well..... it always comes back and bites me, lol!!

lol Daff............I'm like you..........a bit of a floating voter...........having read all the comments and points of view..........I have to say I have a certain amount of sympathy but also agree that the laws of the land should've been respected. However........I am often a tad naughty (not in that way I hasten to add) after a glass or three of vino soooooo..........who am I to throw stones lol xx

MrDaff

MrDaff Report 16 Oct 2008 21:51

Yep..... glass houses and throwing stones certainly spring to mind, Muffy

Oh.... and what is the other one? Let me think... yep... *let him without sin cast the first stone*

Not me mate... too many sins of my own to be throwing stones about!! ;¬)) Very nice some of them were, too, lol
