Exotic moi?..yes can be lol

Max Wall was an old comedian/performer in the 1930s through to 50s/60s/70s. He died in 1990.
His silly walk inspired John Cleese.Professor Wallofski was his stage/name act, but he was also a very good serious actor

Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry!

Blackadder, but only the later ones, and Mr Bean was appalling.

Lemme see, so far that's Hugh Laurie ...

... while I try to think of the name of the one about the roadie turned exterminator we've been watching, that has now been rotated to the one where he plays a DJ named Alan something.

And Graham Norton, of course. ;)

But while you may have started it, we do it better now. Let me fetch some youtubes for you ...

Partridge. Alan Partridge. But what the heck is the name of the exterminator one?

Well some of the old comics I liked were Les Dawson,Ken Dodd and Max Miller. Ronnie Barker for sitcom and younger ones Ross Noble and Peter Kay,who I think is hilarious.

Victoria Wood is my fav. comedienne, think she's very talented.
Who do you like?

This Hour Has 22 Minutes is a half-hour political satire show on CBC. It takes its name from "This Hour Has Seven Days", a famous current-affairs show from the late 60s that pioneered tough interviewing (it once had the grand wizard of the KKK as an interviewee), and got cancelled through political interference.

22 Minutes has gone downhill, but Rick Mercer spun his own show off.

Then Prime Minister Paul Martin goes shopping at the Canadian Tire with a host of the show, Rick Mercer:

I bought three of those Black and Decker heaters, and two failed to function almost immediately. Paul Martin's wife actually told the nation he doesn't know how to make Kraft Dinner, the Canadian national food. He's a multi-millionnaire.

Current PM Stephen Harper hosting Rick Mercer at a sleepover:

You can click on any of the clips in the list to see more fun political humour. Even the sour Stephen Harper just can't help being Canadian, i.e. funny.

Rick's accent is Newfoundland, btw.

Funny thing is -- what Canadians do best is sketch comedy. Second City, widely regarded as one of the best comedy shows ever. But I'm not overly fond of sketch comedy.

So I prefer the britcoms. ;)

JaneyCanuck Report 25 Sep 2008 00:06

You have political comedians -- but do all your senior politicians go on their shows and make fun of themselves???

I don't thiiink so. ;)

That's the essence of Cdn funny: self-deprecating. We got it from you, but ..........

we do it better!
