I mainly shop at Tesco, but it is being turned into a super store so it is chaos at the mo.I have started using Aldi to buy sliced cheeses, sliced hams ,pork steaks, bacon, biscuits, and other stuff too.
Not being funny but there a lot of strange folk shop in Morrisons here. The Co-op are all Geriatric, not there is anything wrong with that ,but trying to get round the car park with peeps who don't know how to drive anymore does my head in!!!!!!!!.Hope I haven't offended anyone .

We've just had a new super-duper Tesco opened near us. It's caused chaos with all the traffic trying to get to it. Don't think I'll bother!

Why do you think the shelves are empty and the shops a mess?

Heather

Heather Report 21 Sep 2008 18:37

Because they don't care Dawn and there isn't enough competition.
Where I live we have Lydl, Aldi, Tesco. 2x Dunnes Stores and a large Supervalu. If people aren't happy they shop elsewhere. This happened about two years ago when shopping centre where Tesco is tried to bring in paid parking. Customers went to the other supermarkets and the paid parking was done away with.
Protest with your feet !!

My daughter works at our local Tesco's (part time now as she's gone back to college). As far as I'm aware, she's always polite - I'd like to think that I've raised her to be so. You'll always get some staff in any shop with a face like a smacked-whatsit! That's probably the law of averages or whatever!

It's a difficult one really as regards to the racks in the aisles etc. I guess if the shelves are empty, they need to re-stock, or people would be complaining the items they want aren't available. Let's face it, if the stock is out in the warehouse and NOT on the shelves, people won't be able to buy it. It's a bit of a catch-22 if you ask me - you're damned if you do and damned if you don't!

;o)

I have to say the reason the cages are left out and the shelves are empty is because the company gives priority to having no queues at the checkouts so takes the shop floor staff to man the tills instead of filling the shelves

Our local Tesco seems to have a problem with stock control too. Fruit and veg not very good quality. Staff quite often short ( I`m not moaning about their height here!) Granted you don`t have to wait long in a queue, but that`s not enough to keep me shopping there.

Heather

Heather Report 21 Sep 2008 19:04

I was in Lydl the other day......queues at the tills. the checkout girl had to leave the till to go and mop up a spillage.............they don't employ the staff

Harpstrings

Harpstrings Report 21 Sep 2008 19:16

Well I think Tesco's Chief Executive should have a copy of this. Seems to me no matter what part of the British Isles you are living in the vegetables are disgraceful. The stock is unreliable and the state of the stores disgusting. They need to do something about it. I think they should concentrate on the stores they have got without building any more and employ more staff in their existing stores.

I too think he should have a copy! would we mind queueing for an extra 5 mins if we got everything we wanted and the veg was fresh?

Heather Report 21 Sep 2008 19:31

I bought broccoli in Tesco yesterday for todays dinner. I bought the one that is wrapped (because it's cheaper) not the loose one. When I opened it there was a family of green catapillars living in it......about six of them..........*shivers at the thought*

Harpstrings

Harpstrings Report 21 Sep 2008 19:36

Ooh Heather, thats awful - I would take it back, catapillars as well!

Put me off broccoli now *shudders with you*.

Wouldnt bother me having to queue for a bit longer for a better quality store and food stocks Dawn.

i agree with the bit about fruit and veg when buying carrots or strawberries or even pre packed fruit i have opened it the next day to find it has gone off .ALSO when tesco offer 5p off a litre of fuel they put up the price at the pumps first by 2p on the when you spend £50 so people are not really getting the bargain they thought they were????????????

Sharron Report 21 Sep 2008 19:40

I have put this story on before but it worth another go.

A few years ago I was doing a big merchandising job in a smallish supermarket that had it's warehouse upstairs. There was a conveyor to take the stock upstairs.

When I arrived at 11.45 they had had a frozen delivery sometime before, it was lying unattended on the conveyor, frozen chicken and all sorts of other frozen goods.

The job I was doing was long and tedious, an entire range of chocolate as I recall.

When I had finished and signed out at 14.30 the frozen goods were still lying unattended on the conveyor.

Dawn

Dawn Report 21 Sep 2008 19:56

thats terrible sharron and i bet the stock went back on the shop floor after!
