Wasn't out too get you personly Peter and I do know just how annoying a slow moving quee of traffic can be .
Our transport minister's car (Norway) was reported to doing 125kh in 80kh zone so even the mighty seem to believe they are above the law
Have you seen tractor racing on Eurosport? Tractors at 200kh?

Why is this closed? It's like saying I dont' want anyone else's view on the subject.

It would be very silly to go out for the day or to go touring on a tractor so it is fairly logical that the vehicle you are following will not be travelling very far.

Unlike,I might add,the dippy b**ch who pulled out from her drive in front of me without looking and proceeded along the road where it was impossible to overtake safely at a speed of about twenty whilst deep in conversation with her children.So deep as to be leaning toward the passenger seat and looking more at them than at the road.

No doubt she had moved to the country to take advantage of the quiet roads.

With the current condition of the roadworks in Gloucester at the moment I leave in plenty of time.
In fact it is far more easier to go up the M5 and in that way.

It is just a observation and a polite request(I said please).

You should realize that for some moterists the roads were built just as a racetrack for themselves, tractors aren't I suppose allowed on to the race track except when they the expert race track/rally drivers aren't using them
If I sound a bit bitter I'm just sooo fed up with traffic accidents and helping to try to fix the unfixable.
If you can't organize your day's driving to take into account the occassional tractor or other large slow moving vehicle then one should take the train

I was going to say, surely you can only pull over to allow traffic to pass if it is safe to do so?

Any tractor is not going to be travelling far, it's not as though you are going to be stuck behind it on the M4 all the way from London to Bristol. A few minutes is the usual to allow the tractor to get from one place to the next.

What makes the situation dangerous is not the slow moving tractor, but the impatient driver who simply does not have the patience or common sense to just wait, and tries to overtake instead.

When he hits oncoming traffic who is at fault? The tractor driver for being there or the stupid car driver who just couldn't wait?

Most of them are quite good round here and if the traffic builds up too much and there is somewhere to pull in, the majority of them will.

Well said Eldrick, from a former tractor driver.
It is not always easy to find places to pull over and on busy roads queues can build up quickly.
Most of my work was done on country roads and how often did we meet drivers in expensive cars on their mobile who didn't want to pull over. Usual rule of road, if it is bigger than you get out of the way (we are talking passing in the opposite direction.)
More modern tractors, notably the JCB Fastrac have road gearboxes, but most tractors have a 20 mile an hour speed limit as they are not equipped with rear suspension and some brakes are rudimentary to say the least.
It doesn't happen all the time, so get a life and get real.

I dont see anywhere on this thread that anyone is held in contempt in fact they were just asked to pull over Please if there is a long line of traffic following them

It's dead easy, really.

Car drivers have no more right to the road than anyone else and, being in a farming community, the average car driver is probably held in as much contempt as tractor drivers are in a non farming community.

For every tale you can recount about tractors being a nuisance, I can recount one about car drivers speeding around the country roads, going through fences, getting stuck in floods, hitting livestock and wildlife.....

So my take on it is live with it - its not going to change, so it's not worth getting uptight about it.

I did not think I was going off the subject of tractor drivers. Rather making a point!

We suffer this a lot, however we know who is going to pull over and who isn't :-)) having lived here so long.
