My oh used to smoke and stopped about 10 months ago. He'd tried patches before but didn't really work, started again soon after. My sister used the tablets (zyban?) to give up, but again, started again fairly soon after and still smokes.

When oh stopped he just stopped. Didn't cut down, stopped. Told himself what he was going to gain by being a non smoker - basically everything that Eldrick said earlier. When he thought about it he realised that being a smoker put lots of limits on his day to day life, apart from the obvious things, even things like when are where to take his break at work, to co-incide with fellow smokers standing outside in all weathers puffing away like zombies. He decided it was stupid for a million and 1 different reasons, and that actually he just didn't want to do it any more. And he hasn't looked back.

I'm not suggesting it's easy & that it's not a real addiction, but I think you need to really want to stop for yourself and concentrate on what you'll gain.

I wish you all the very best of luck.

Hello Elizabeth darling

My friend's Doctor helped her by suggesting she cut down by one a day, she found that very helpful. It may perhaps help you sweetie.

Well done for trying ((((((((((((((hug)))))))))))

Well done to all.
I've stopped smoking tailor made's and am now rolling my own.....down to about 5 a day from 20 a day. Just thinking of the money I'm gonna save, and how pleased my kids are gonna be when I finally give up.

Make you right there Mac,,

People should view cigarettes for what they are,,,

Expensive, Stinky, Killers

I have been off them for the last 7 years
and wish I had quit sooner,,
even better never started

At the moment I have to watch an old friend of mine
slowly wither away due to lung cancer, not nice
