So you had a slip up,so what, you can still do it,
just think how long you stopped for,
so as the saying goes, pick yourself up dust yourself off and start all over again........good luck

Hope your doc listens to you Elizabeth and gives you lots of help.

The most important thing is that you want to stop, and you will. Don't beat yourself up about having a little lapse. You're not going to let that beat you, I'm sure

Lots of love,

Maria xx

Please dont feel bad I tried my hubby said I was the Spawn of Satan it was as though I went nuts. The nicotine is an adictive habit
You will find yourself tearful and moody and often having a go at those nearest to you it basicaly like going detox your body is craving.

a few tips that help::
Have a bowl of fruit near to where you put your ciggies
Carry an apple in your bag at all times in case you get the craving whilst out
If freinds smoke tell them no smoking in your home they will have to go without
Drink a glass of water when feeling the urge to light up

Most of all dont be too hard on yourself as its hard hun going cold turkey is like an alcaholic going detox keep posting and if you need a friendly bit of support feel free to message me :)

hugs Sarah xx

im back from the quaks(doctors).
grrrrrrrrrr i feel angry because he told me not to give up smoking straight away until my chest is completely clear.he has referd me to a clinic.
my x-ray showed clouding due to asthma and bronchitis(please for give my spelling if ive spelt it wrong).
oxygen level is now back to normal.he is going to keep me on steroids for a while longer.
he said the reason why i got upset was because of the stress im putting myself under.
he also told me im not a heavy smoker(to me i am).
i still feel like a failure to myself.xxxxxxx

Sarah Report 7 Aug 2008 14:56

Listen hun you are NOT a failure he is right you need to stop gradually and need a way to release the stress what about a punchbag :)
Sorry just trying to make you smile are you ashmatic because regardless of what you may think stress can bring on chest problems as well which can constrict the airflow the steroids will help open the airways etc.
do you smoke many a day ?? try and limit it down a little but most of go with the Doctors advice as although smoking is not good for us it relieves stress which sounds like you have a lot of hun
Big hugs Sarah xx

P.S forgot to say take it one day at a time Rome was not built in a day ok xx

Well its better than ten or twenty, how many have you had now?? Be honest!! You sound as though you re building up to your quit day,if your on tablets wait till doc is happy with giving you nrt patches.. Set yourself a quit day now, maybe something 2/3 weeks away, then you have nt got that stress to deal with, between now and then, try and space times between cigs, making it longer each time. When d day comes you ll be mentally prepared..I run those classes remember!!!
