I mean no disrespect to your mum Anita but it seems she is putting the guilt trips on you to ensure you stay as she knows you will feel guilty and stay put.
Call her bluff teach her to use the PC it will be handy if you ever do get itchy feet again.
Remember we have but one life, it is meant to be lived and you cant always do what is expected of you, you deserve to be happy as much as anyone else.

Oh deary me, but if they are your friends how upset would they feel if they knew you were crying over this? I personally would be horrified that a friend of mine was getting so down.
I would try one more time, send a little card - you can get funny ones these days and say ask if they are still interested in doing the work and that you wont accept a no payment offer, that you like to pay your way - even if its a nominal amount. Say that you need to order your kitchen soon and if they cannot fit it for you then you need to get someone else in.

That's pretty much it Jax
she DOES expect me to live on her doorstep for the rest of her natural and be available at her beck and call .............
when i mentioned staying UK but moving a bit further up north - her response was i would HAVE to teach her to use a computer then cos 'i wont be able to get out and do my shopping forever'
taken/taking for granted is exactly right
Thanks Gwen x

Anita I may be totally wrong but maybe your mum is treating your brothers move differently to yours because she always expected you to be about where she didnt expect your brother to be and maybe took your being there for granted a little so was shocked at the thought of you moving.
Know what you mean about asking for favours and help, I often feel that way as I dont get much help but am always the one people come to when they want something.
It aint easy I know hun, maybe you should start thinking of yourself for a change and put yourself first.

Rose and Tina
that's the thing see - i can't be pushy when it's a favour - me i'd rather say nothing than feel even more awkward for asking
Rose am getting kitchen thru work and i don't think they have 'fitters'
and don't worry there are plenty of tears just now

Thanks ladies ................. just been grizzling all over my desk.
Don't get me wrong - i don't begrudge my brother his new life - but she made me feel so bad for wanting to move - she refused to talk about it
And i know my friend has her own stuff to be done - i don't like asking for help, off anyone - even family ............
i'm so fed up of life 'dumping' on me - nothing good ever happens, nothing ever goes right - i wonder why i bother sometimes :O(

Hi McAnne, been there, lol still there in fact!
Like me you cope on your own, don't ask favours...whilst others seem to get everything done for them....
best advice I can give you is go and have a really good cry...about everything ! get it all done in one go...it won't get your kitchen done but you will feel a bit better afterwards!
Then go and tackle friend, ask for a time that her OH can definitely commit to...if he can't ...ask at the place supplying the kitchen, explain you can't pay much for fitting, it may be that one of their regular fitters will do a 'moonlight' for cash (the plumber at my local DIY place did ! shhhh lol)
Good luck and (((hugs)))

Oh dear, I do hate seeing people upset on here when I am soo far away and cannot do anything.
(((big hugs)))
Perhaps you could remind the person who was going to do your kitchen that you will be getting someone else in if they are too busy to do it as it is becoming an urgent job - that way it could be a gentle reminder?

Blimey Anita, I do feel for you. It's always the way though, isn't it, with those two situations you're in. The users of this world get what they want, while the genuine peeps seem to get ignored. Can't offer words of comfort at the moment, but have pm'd you about another situation. :-)) x

:O((
.
and things are bugging me ..............
Got my Mum - apparently with extremely short term memory - gushing over my brothers plans to move to France - can't get her passport renewal in quick enough - even bought it up to mine yesterday to check that she was filling it out right ................ keeps on and on about when they go to visit!!
Shame she didn't have the same enthusiasm when i mentioned that i was thinking of moving away for a better life.
Secondly - after getting what i consider to be 'ripped off' by the guy at work who tiled my bathroom, i asked one of my best friends if her hubby would fit my new kitchen for me instead. She said yes he would and declined any offer of payment - but he wanted to pop down and have a quick look at what was involved.
that was over 4 weeks ago and after 2 aborted visits i'm still waiting - they are just 30 mins drive away............... i need 2 weeks notice to order my kitchen and at this rate my house is gonna resemble DIY SOS for the entire year
i can see me ending up attempting to do it myself and bodging it
everyone else always seem to have people falling over themselves to help out with different things.............
i can't remember ever calling on any of my friends for such favours - the most i've asked for is a lift to a do and yet here i am feeling really disappointed and fed up
I could just cry ................... i don't ask for much but am always the one left struggling on alone or going without!!
Sorry ............................. just needed to get all that off my chest xxx
