must have missed time and place? don't know Liverpool very well now but would be good to see the tall ships...so will go up there anyway this year.

Agree GA it would certainly be nice to put faces to the names and see if they are as one imagines....

everyone will recognise me...I'm the fat one! lol

Addition...sorry yes just seen the time and place earlier on thread...oops

I couldn't have made it - too far away. Having said that, it seems a shame to cancel just because alleged trouble makers have threatened to go as well. What can they do ? Make a noise, say nasty things - that is what children will do - I'm not sure about adults. Hopefully they will be more adult than that. But they will surely be outnumbered - that is if they DO turn up. We all know what bullies are - all mouth no substance.
They probably wouldn't turn up anyway, just said they would to try to spoil it for everyone else - which they seem to have done, by having it cancelled.

I suspect its a lot of hot air......one thing about having an audience on here , to a really busy place that will be very well policed as well...

Good for you Joycey:))

It's too far for me, but if it wasn't I would go just to spite the ones trying to spoil it.

Bullies are cowards and wouldn't show up anyway...............whoever they are will love seeing this thread, won't they?

Let me get this right....

A meeting of people involved in family history research is being cancelled because of potential trouble.....

Did I read it correctly...? Really? Honestly?

lol

Rambling

Rambling Report 29 May 2008 10:30

lol Eldrick (and btw I love your writing....have you ever done it professionally? serious question, genuinely interested)

Yes the meet of fellow genealogists has been cancelled lol , its a mad world...I don't know precisely why but as I said to Joyce I will still go if I can and meet anyone who turns up...I am shy but really quite friendly lol.

lol...no, purely an amateur in the fiction stakes.

I have a vision......its a dusty liverpool street....two people walking towards each other....music from an old music box playing in a minor key....faces at windows and curtains twitching....all of a sudden the twin set and pearls goes for the handbag and the shell suit for the tracky pocket....

Scrumpled up marriage and birth certificates cross each other, glinting in the afternoon sun....both duelists fall writhing to the ground with severe paper cuts to the forehead - but twin set has the advantage - a rolled up peoples friend flies through the air and finds its target....

Rambling Report 29 May 2008 10:44

lol Eldrick , thank you for a morning laugh at that...all joking aside, I think you have a real writing talent.....if you don't struggle to write (and I suspect you don't) you should have a go
at it seriously (if you wanted to that is),
lol I have read far worse by 'respected' authors.

I have to put it on record though, just in case anyone wonders, I have never worn a twin set and pearls ....or indeed a shell suit lol!

I can't believe what I have read here. seriously? A meet has been cancelled because of a threat by people of turning up. These are adults we are talking about I assume? I would have ignored it and called their bluff.

Deb Vancouver (18665) Report 30 May 2008 23:21

Go ahead with the meet!

I don't know the circumstances of the cancellation (ie threat or otherwise), but people who are bullies or troublemakers wouldn't show their faces anyway.

They would be too scared that they would be "the talk of the boards" later on, and other members would then "have their number"

Last time I was in Liverpool we had a meet with just the four of us, Lemon, Dan, my daughter and myself.
We had a great time!

Don't be intimidated and go for it.

Deb
(if you do go, try and get a table upstairs it's a little more private)
