Me, I'm orthopaedic joint replacement - love my job but would quit tomorrow if I had a choice of something else to go to , just not the same anymore - too much pen pushing -wasting of money and too much beurocrasy!! Lists and targets are more important than the patients or the staff!! |

I remember we washed the beds down after the patient had been discharged and put them if we could out in the grounds to air especially after a death. I also remember back rounds and washes. Putting as many bedpans on the trolley as I could so that I did not have to keep going back and praying that they did not fall. Night duty on the childrens ward and having to darn all the clothes in the cupboards. Early morning breakfast when it was the juniors job to cut the bread and butter and cook the eggs. My poor patients always got hard boiled eggs!!!!!!!! Oh happy happy days. |

Charlie -couldn`t agree more . I work in a GPS and they are more concerned with ticking boxes on the computer to line their pockets than basic nursing skills, (See my other thread !!!) |

Remember the beds lol - all pillow case openings facing away from the door, and all bed wheels turned to run in line with the foot of the bed. |
