Youth Dew by Estee Lauder

ChrisofWessex Report 13 Apr 2008 11:36

I have used two for well over 35 years! Chanel No.5 and Estee by Estee Lauder. Her famous Youth Dew smelt like mildew on me - was given a large bottle one Christmas and dau. friend was delighted when she received it!

AM and PM - cannot recall the sixties icon (first of the celebrity perfumes) - given by my boss at the time who had worked for Gala - all I did was sneeze the two days I tried them - he could not stand it - neither could I!

As a teenager 4711 and later Coty's or was it Yardleys L'aiment

CK1 for everyday wear.

Flower by Kenzo for evenings.

Prefer a light perfume, don't like heavy musky ones at all.

Interesting thread Dee
Like music ,I think perfume does bring back many memories........now I love wearing Coco, Cerruti or Oscar De La Renta.
But remembering times gone by... in the Fifties it was Black Rose by Goya & Blue Grass,
...Sixties. was ..Apple Blossom,Tweed and L'Air du Temps
Charlie and Obsession were popular in the Seventies

Ones I hated were Poison and Lou Lou

Used to wear Coty L'Aimant, but the OH bought me a bottle of Very Irresistable by Givenchy, which I now like.

All the ones mentioned Apple Blossom, Tweed. I wore.

And yes I hated Poison and Lou Lou.

Had a girl work with me who wore Poison, and she bathed in it I think, I hated sitting with her in the Canteen, it put me off my dinner, and gave me the snuffles.

As I said at the top of my thread, I put my perfume on when I get dressed, when we are staying in hotels I never put it on till after breakfast, I would hate to ruin someones meal

You are so right, about bringing back years, first perfume Pretty peach by Avon :O)
1970' s things like Charlie, tweed, gingham anyone remember the Faberge prefumes
1980's grown up perfume Rive Gauche, L'air du temps.
1980's Channel 5 or Coco,
1990's Aromatics
2007 still aromatics but also Armani White Diamonds and Burberry.

I remember fondly my Daughter buying me Anais Anais when she received her first week's wage, I hadn't heard of it then, she also bought White Linen.

Know what you mean Dee, about perfume putting folk off.
A while back,I was swimming on holiday and someone was 'wearing' ( apart from costume lol ) Poison, so strong found it hard to breathe urrgh

My Favourite is "RED DOOR"

But speaking of days gone by when I was a very young I couldn't afford expensive Perfume only one I remember from then was "California Poppy" it was cheap lol. Oh and "Evening in Paris" was another one that wasn't too expensive.
I don't think we were as fussy in those days as we are today.
