Hi Colin. Hope your dad's health is improving. My mum's 80 this year and I know what you're going through. She's so independent, but she moved to where my sister and I live about 7 years ago, a few years after my dad died, so that we can keep a closer eye on her. One of us will see her everyday, but she gets frustrated if we try to do any cleaning etc for her - but sometimes will let us. I personally think that it's mums independent nature that keeps her so young - I do think it's a good thing. She does know that if she ever needs it, she has a home with me and OH. If your dad is like my mum, he will only go to the doctors when absolutely necessary, but will go. Don't forget moving house is one of the most stressful times in anyones life and very tiring. Just keep a close eye on him and your mum. I'm sure things will settle down. AL |

Hope your Dad's health improves Colin, I have had a similar situation with my own Dad who had a stroke a while back which left him with little sense of balance and therefore unable to do much around the house, I know its difficult, but take care and try and get him to see his GP. Hopefully once he settles in his new home his health will improve. Keep your eye on your mum too as she will probably be trying to hide her concern. Col |
