Amanda, you are so close to the truth! Today soggy towels remain on only 3 windowsills and under a couple of doors, and that's just the rain! We are nowhere near the floods!!

No probs here in South Yorkshire but we are due to get it on Wednesday:

Severe Gales 2100 Tue 11 1500 Wed 12 March 2008

The Met Office is forecasting another swathe of severe westerly gales to affect parts of the UK on Tuesday night and through the first half of Wednesday.

This time the focus is further north than on Monday. The strongest winds are expected to reach Northern Ireland during Tuesday evening, and then transfer across parts of southwest Scotland, northern England, north Wales and the Midlands during Wednesday.

Gusts of 60 to 70 mph are expected with the possibility of 80 mph gusts on exposed coasts and hills. Disruption to transport and power supplies is possible and there may be damage to buildings and trees.

This warning will be updated around 1100 on Tuesday 11 March.

We seem to have missed the worst of it here. it is windy but not too bad and we have had some very heavy rain but nothing like last July so perhaps we had our share then!!
Brilliant sunshine at the moment.

Its still really windy here on the Surrey/Hants border. Rain coming and going, but really heavy at times, thunder and lightening at lunchtime. It's been like this here since late evening yesterday. In between we get bouts of brilliant sunshine, but it's soon chased away by the wind and rain. Fence threatening to go at any time. No dog walking today in the woods !!!!

I live on the Kent/East Sussex border and was woken by the windy weather several times during the night. It is bucketing down here, as it has been for most of the day except for a brief respite mid-morning. We live on a ridge so the noise of the gusting wind is fantastic! Most of my windows and doors are leaking...

It brightened right up here in Norfolk earlier......but the wind and rain are back with a vengance.
Glad your folks got home ok Colin.

At the moment, in Southampton, it is reasonably calm - but it hasn't been!!
I did not get much sleep as the wind and rain were hitting the side of the house and my very large bedroom window.
Boy, was it wild! I don't like storms with my name!
Yes, we had a few flashes and claps of thunder here, and even a bit of sun.
However, I have NEVER seen my barometers so low - and they are STILL falling!!
So do not unbatten your hatches just yet!!

We've just lost a pane of glass in the greenhouse....................son-in-law coming straight round to help repair it before the wind gets in and breaks the rest.

If need be, they will just cover it with a tarpaulin..............more fence panels have blown down in our road in the last half an hour.

It's building up again just in time for the school run!

xx

Well it brightened up nicely here in Maidstone just before lunch time - almost wondered what all the fuss was about lol

Now however - it is as miserable as anything - howling wind - horizontal rain .................. and strangely not a customer/builder in sight LOL

Hi Lorraine

Im right near to the solent and local creeks , 3 quarter surrounded by water very close to Haslar sea wall. Although I think we are quite safe here generally, we are in a an environmental flood warning area and I keep looking out my back windows accross to see if the horse fields have any water creeping up into them. Its pretty flat near me.

We have never been flooded before but they didnt give out those warnings for nothing. Fingers crossed it isnt this time either :)

Yes colin

think it is the tanker , don't think anybody would be so mad as to out on on the fishing boats today

Im just over the hill, moved out of copnor 4 years ago so we are not at threat from the floods just the wind
