I just "knew" but I was also needing the loo a lot even in the very earliest days.

I didn't feel particularly queasy either time.

I really craved Kentucky Fried Chicken with the first one. They used to do little nuggets (like the MacDonalds ones) in the mid 1980s and I thought they were great.

I also ate quite a lot of lettuce cos I fancied it and it is full of folic acid!

I can't see the update either!!!

I have 3 children, 23, 20 and 16. A girl and then two boys. With all of them at the beginning I had sore boobs, metallic taste in the mouth, heightened sense of smell (still can't walk past a privet hedge in flower - yuck) and a hatred of coffee. The first baby was a surprise, lol, and I was given the good news by a palm reader I had gone to with the girls in the office! With all three I felt really sick from six weeks and it stopped dead on 14 weeks

No cravings with my daughter but with my first son it was Mars Bars - even in labour!!! - and with the second it was champagne rhubarb yoghurt!

After my first daughter was born i had a few issues which resulted in total cessation of monthlies.

i was told that I wouldn't be able to have any more children - and i was happy with that.

Years later i started feeling tired all the time. Went to the GP and had many blood tests which didn't reveal anything but slight anaemia.

After months of the same problem and now the distinct feeling of early baby movements i went back to the GP and said "I think i'm pregnant"
She looked at my notes and said "Well, Idoubt it but let's have a feel of your tummy."

Oh, imagine both our faces when she said "oh my goodness, you're about 20 weeks gone!!"

She sent me for a scan the same day which actually put me at almost 25 weeks.
Not very long left then to come to terms with it all!!

I fell within a week of trying and knew I was pregnant at the end of that week when I went out, drank more black russians than were good for anyone and they didn't stay down for more than an hour. (This was before there was so much info on the damage alcohol can do to a foetus.) I ate a lot of avocados with vinegar in the well and brown bread and butter, and a lot of chocolate Double Deckers and Mars Bars too lol As I was 34 at the time I got rather tired especially as I was doing two jobs and worked till 6 weeks before the birth as well as supervising a lot of work on my house, including the underpinning of the foundations. I ended up a single Mum as the father decided he hadn't meant things to happen so quickly!
Hope all goes well with your pregnancy and you enjoy it.

On eldest

I found out when my elderly neighbour told me she had started knitting, asked her why, she said cos your expecting, I laughed at her, 2 weeks later realised she was right.
Apparently it showed in my face ???

On youngest

We suspected but wasn't saying anything do to losing one but my sister guessed and took me to the chemist there and then and they did the test for me, longest 15 minutes of my life.

Cravings

Roast dinners, Granny smiths apples, satsumas and pickled onions.

start taking folic acid tablets if you aren't already. If you are planning to get pregnant you should take them before conception, and up to 12 weeks once you are pregnant.

I didn't crave food much apart from my 5th, and it was salt. I would go through about 4 packets of mini cheesey cheddars covered in salt a day. But with all my pregnancies it was smells I craved, boot polish windolene, paint, petrol, normally couldn't stand the smell of them and as soon as the baby was born the craving went away, thank god, lol.
