Glenys the Menace!

Glenys the Menace! Report 13 Feb 2008 23:31

I haven't read all of this thread yet, but Caz, I have to disagree with you lol. I don't think he should hang.

Just let the other prisoners at him!

OH and I were sat having dinner when that came onto the news. Couldn't help but cry when I heard the details.

How could anyone do anything like that to a 54day old baby??

eRRolSheep Report 13 Feb 2008 23:28

Wendy I agree wholeheartedly with you/

Island I think that is a non-debate and a ridiculous thing to say. Of course social workers are more professional - look up the meaning of the word if you disagree.

I just cried when I heard what had happened to that baby.
She was the same age as my grandson - and despite being so young, he knows he is loved, looks at everyone who comes near him, loves having a cuddle and lying on his daddy's chest after having his feed. Even at his young age he knows what he wants - to lie on his tummy, against all the 'rules'. He has never had pain inflicted upon him - and trusts everyone.

What must that poor girl felt in her short life?
Hatred, pain, confusion neglect etc etc. She never had the chance to have her 'favourite place'.
I still can't get my head around the abuse she suffered. I can't believe she stayed alive so long.

I can't believe the social workers never saw the despair in her eyes - for her eyes surely weren't looking around to see where the next cuddle was coming from - they must have been as blank and as
joyless as her short, short life.

agreed Errol, but forget the red tape etc, people must report any and everything however minor or major if they are concerned.when i fostered many years ago we had to report even the slightest thing and it was investigated straight away, and if i felt that something wasnt right ,i badjered until i got a response. they cant keep passing the buck and saying "we dont know who was dealing with it".ok it takes a long time to train a social worker, but they should have a section of their training actually living with a family that has problems on a daily basis.Life is not found in a textbook.

But Ann that was my point entirely - you may have thirty people who all logged different events but unless that information if collated properly and shared then it is worthless - again, this is not incompetency, rather the system.
If you have evidence of incompetency then please share but I reiterate that these people (until proven guilty) were not incompetent - the system was!

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 13 Feb 2008 23:16

fair enough Errol but the reports say that there were at least THIRTY people from Social Services involved, that is apart from the number of times she went to hospital. Now surely the fact that there were so many people involved should have alerted someone to the fact that she was in severe danger - the hospital had diagnosed a fractured skull on one occasion apart from all her other injuries. And I have to disagree with you on the point of incompetency - they were totally incompetent or she would never have died, nothing to do with red tape or bureaucracy

eRRolSheep Report 13 Feb 2008 23:13

Shocking though it is we also must consider all angles. We are quick to criticise the professional services who work under tremendous pressure. But at the end of the day they are more professional than the majority of the rest of us and we do not have the right to say that we could do things better because we are not equipped with the correct tools. There will always be situations where poor decisions are made because all of us are only human. Let us hope that lessons are learned about inter-departmental interaction and co-operation. This is not a situation brought about by incompetencies in individuals but by red tape, beaurocracy and paperwork!

couldn't agree more Wendy - I don't want the evil b......d to die, I want him to suffer every minute for the rest of his rotten life. I hope he gets beaten up at every opportunity in prison but chances are he'll end up in solitary for his own safety which is a crying shame - glad I'm not a prison warder, I couldn't bear to breath the same air as him and I hope if he has a mother that she either doesn't know or is dead cos God I feel sorry for her too!

Wendy

Wendy Report 13 Feb 2008 23:01

well we could get 4 prisoners to hold the father of that baby by the arms and legs --then get a baseball bat and hit his crutch time and time again---or dip his body in a bath of acid---
please feel free to add to this list

wendy
ps if i get pulled from this site so be it,i feel so sad for that baby to suffer at the hands of her father.

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 13 Feb 2008 22:54

the safety net for this poor little mite had holes large enough to drive a tank through. Thirty different care workers had access to this child and not one of them saw fit to report her case as being a child at risk. In my opinion they are all as guilty as the scumbag of a so called father who killed her. They all aided and abetted him in his heinous crimes and they should all be instantly sacked. And it's nio good saying this won't happen again because it will. In the early seventies there was an awfful case of child abuse of a little girl called Maria Caldwell - a national outcry followed and it was then said that such a case would never occur again. Ha!. Little Victoria Climbie, another little innocent tortured and murdered with Social Workers invoilved in the case. I had the misfortune to spend eleven years working with psychiatric social workers and out of all the ones I came in contact with during that time I can only name about three or four who were worth their salt, the rest were only interested in their own careers. I apologise if there are any social workers on these boards but that is how I saw it and I cannot say different. This particular social services department say they have learned lessons from this case - as if - one, year, two years, three years down the line a case like this will happen again and we;ll hear all the same old clap trap rolled out again. Social Services must start sacking these disinterested and pathetic workers and then perhaps the others might sit up and take notice. I am so angry that such a little mite had to suffer so much whilst the powers that should have looked after her safety seemingly looked on and did absolutely nothing. May they hang their heads in shame

Hanging would be too good for this creature.........he should be subjected to the same sort of slow, painful death that he inflicted on his child.............

I would also like to see the names of the doctors, health visitors, social service employees etc made PUBLIC.

They carry a lot of the responsibility in this case. No child of that age should ever have bruises..........even ONE should have been reported immediately

ChrisofWessex Report 13 Feb 2008 22:10

I can recall in 1980 a little girl (think she came from around Hove/Brighton) died through incompetency and it was said by many government agencies - never again. How many children have died since from cruelty? 30 health workers saw a 54 day old child - they all should be sacked immediately. At the very least and hard and long looks taken at their being employed in this service ever again.
Let us show teeth and protect those who cannot protect themselves. A baby was sexually abused by her own father - I know what I would like to do to him - I do hope that in prison - the wardens turn a blind eye.

The unfortunate thing is that children fall through the net of care set up to help them.
I agree with Wendy many of those people who are employed by the agencies may have impressive letters after their names, but no knowledge of life.

Many of us who trained in the 60 -70's & have been in childcare all of our working lives, now have certificates thought of as useless, but it is not taken into account the amount of valuable life skills we have learnt over the years.

yes Caz, he sexually abused the child .

the news report said the mother is scitzopfrenic (wrong spelling)the baby was seen by many diffferent agencies and none of them linked together.when are they going to employ people who dont just read from a text book,
they need to have experience under their belts to deal with the horrific crimes against children.
