Toothfairy Report 5 Feb 2008 11:57

I am sort of hardened to the usual 'cruelty' cases we see - the cats who were left alone in houses, or shut out no longer wanted etc...but today my boss intruduced me to a little cat being kept away from the others...(no other staff may go in and no other animals are allowed within three enclosures)..she asked me if i could work my magic...
There, in the corner on the floor was a beautiful little cat, her body frozen with fear as we bent down...Her name is Star, and she has been rescued from a house where the people kept snakes and lizards. Star has been repeatedly tortured and has been used to 'bait' the snakes. I will leave the details there, as even i, who see cruelty everyday, am affected by the rest.

This poor little one has no will left - she just tried to make herself as small as she could to get away from the world.

WHY???? I just don't understand some people!!!
I just don't get it?? What possible enjoyment would anyone get out of doing such horrific things to such an innocent little creature???

Star is now my case - i will be with her everyday, i promise to prove to her that not all humans are evil, that hands don't always hurt and that life can be fun and filled with love and cuddles....
It is just so bloody hard some days, i find myself less inclined to be nice to people..

LOU XXXXXXxxxxxxxx
ps. sorry to waffle on...Bit depressed and upset...xxx

don't know what to say Lou.....but I think you are an absolute love.....((((hugs)))) to you....
if anyone can help that little cat now it will be you I know., it beggars belief how people can do this to another living creature...but sadly i am no longer surprised at the depths to which people will sink.

Praying that your little cat learns to trust you

I abor animal cruelty and could never work in your field Lou I would end up battering some low life....I'm sure with lots of love and cuddles Star will learn to love and be loved...anyone who is convicted of animal cruelty should face a mandatory five year minimum jail sentence

Hello Lou,

It's horrid and they don't just do it to animals, they do it to children and elderly too.

There are some horrible humans about.

The one I have now spent two weeks down my cleavage as a kitten to stop the others bullying him! And the one before him coped by being a feline rotweiller. She would behave and relax if I held her in my arms though.

Little Star will come round to you - let me know when she first does that thing where they pounce on something with both front paws and then do a two handed throw into the air.

Toothfairy Report 5 Feb 2008 12:14

I don't think little star will be ready for homing for a very long time, every time she hears a noise she goes stiff and crouches down - all that she's been through though and not a single hiss or spit....!

Colin i agree, i believe 5 years to be the absolute minimum, as for the worst cases i would settle for five minutes in the room with them...

Lou.....When I lived in Cornwall one of the local lowlife decided to put his kitten in the microwave to see what happened....After the court case in which I recall he got a 3 month suspended sentence, some of the villagers dispensed some instant justice and put him into hospital (baseball bats tend to do that), police asked the villagers did we see anything, did we know who was responsible....Did We Hell...we saw and knew nothing

I am going now to send Star some healing.
You are a star too Toothfairy.

Toothfairy

Toothfairy Report 5 Feb 2008 13:05

No Marion - no brothers and sisters that we know of, she is an adult cat - She's suffered for a long time!!!

Colin - baseball bats are good - but i'd prefer to choke them with my bare hands ;-p

Feeling a little less fragile now - a hot cuppa and a box of dairy milk variety have done the trick...

Going to be a long road back for this little one...

nothing you can say is there as words arent good enough for the people that do that.

Sure with a lot of love and patience little Star will again start to trust but the poor thing will never forget what has happened.

Lou,

Glad you are feeling a bit brighter now.

There are just evil people out there who think things like this are funny, and get a kick out of it.

We in the past have homed rescue dogs, and the last one was just so ill it was amazing he survived, but he did, and had a lovely life for 15 years before he became very ill. I can't say more as I can feel tears welling thinking about him.

RIP my Barney.

5 mins not long enough. Choking too good for em. Start with a quick rub down with sandpaper, swift spray of acid; leave 5mins hose down with salty water and quick scrub with yard brush. Repeat for up to an hour

daily

for at least five years

words fail me. the longer I live the more I know I should not be surprised at what I hear but you brought tears to my eyes.

Poor little star, so traumatised. I know that if anyone can show her that not all humans are bad it will be you Lou. You have a long road ahead of you bu we are here to listen to you when you finish there each day.

No hugs as you don't 'do' hugs, but an extra stroke for Star.
