Can I just speak up in GRs defence...although I do agree their customer relations leave an awful lot to be desired. GR are working to sort this problem out. It is not just a case of pressing a few buttons to solve the problems...it is very time consuming. Errol is dealing with the immediate problems on the site while Gr deal with things at their end. It will also save time for Errol to collate the info, filter off anything that is irrelevant then send on to GR information only the info they need..
You may not know Errol...I do not know him well but he is widely known on the boards and, can I say very highly respected by many people on here.If you are not happy dealing with Errol then fine...you deal with GR direct. And as regards the "trust" comment in your post I would rather trust Errol with my pc problems than someone I have never spoken to at GR.

Of course the GR team should post a message on the boards, just to acknowledge there is a problem and that they are dealing with it. It wouldn't be one of the IT team who did that if there really is one. It's ridiculous that they're still going on as if nothing is happening. I don't want 'reports' relayed from members I don't know and if GR can't fix it themselves they should get some professional experts in.

Gillian,

The problem is that no one really knows what the problem is, so there is no message that can be broadcast.

Errol, as an IT professional, has published a method for removing "PerformanceOptimizer" which, incidentally, can be downloaded from many many, many other sites, not just GR.

But, is this program the real problem, or is it the result of something else? who knows? I don't, Errol doesn't, not do I believe does GR, at this point in time.

So, what measures are we to take? I for one make sure all my software is up to date, and that my anti-virus and anti-spyware programs are also. Other than that I can't see what else can be suggested.

If you read Errol's threads you will see that he does not wish to be drawn in to the whys and wherefores, but rather lets all work together to get this thing fixed.

It is Sunday. GR management are likely to be at home today, as most people here are, presumably.

Since the culprit advert is probably hosted on the advertising agency's server and not GR's, I don't suppose that GR can do much about it if the advertising agency doesn't work weekends.

However, I think GR should be sending an email to all their advertisers telling them that one of them has an advert with a virus and to get it sorted as quickly as possible. Or they could just remove all adverts for the next few days - but I doubt they will do that!!

Not saying Errol hasnt been a great help as I know he has worked hard on this.
Doesn't stop GR from having a wee message though,it would be nice.

I'm sure if they could jeanette they would...personally I would rather they spent their time sorting out the problem rather than posting a thread telling us there is a problem...we already know that. I, and many others have the confidence in Errol to communicate with GR on our behalf to sort this out ASAP.He is a very intelligent and knowledgable man doing us all a good turn....or at least trying!

Shouldn't they sort the problem out before they go off!

Never thought about the staff being off or low at weekend.
But still, they should tell us.

Viruses happen............they always have and always will.

GR maybe should keep us informed. but maybe as it's the weekend they haven't the staff to sort it out.

Personally.................I have faith in the advice Errol, Ron and other knowledgable members have given us.

It won't stop me using the site.

since I stopped the adverts I haven't had a problem at all. I assume that most of the admin team don't work at weekends. Maybe they think that communicating with Errol is sufficient. They probably wont read this thread so you all need to contact them direct really.
