Sue, I certainly agree with you that GR need to take some responsibility. A course on customer relations would be a good idea too.

Twinkly

No-one is saying anything about Errol.

WE are talking GR responsibility to customer service for ALL their members.

I think Errol is doing a great job.

I feel sorry for Errol...I should imagine he has put in some very long hours and lots of hard work to HELP people on here and I'm sure if he reads some of the comments today he may well ask himself if it was all worth it!!!

Yep. Have to say I agree.xx

he has got rid of some nasties from my pc.
the thing that baffles me is if ppl are getting these lurgys from GR why are they still using GR , if i though a site was giving me a virus i wouldnt use the site until i knew it was clean.

Gillian

If a member has an IT problem and chooses to speak to Errol that is their choice.....If not then they go to GR direct again their choice
Can I suggest if you are so unhappy with this site and the way it is run you do not renew your subscription...your choice!

Twinkly Ocean Blue,

Quite right and true. There is little point in pontificating. Lets get the problem solved.

InspectorGreenPen Report 3 Feb 2008 20:09

Hi Gillian. Lost for words. Why do you subscribe to GR?

 Sue In Yorkshire.

Sue In Yorkshire. Report 3 Feb 2008 19:41

Peter
Incidentally Yes I had it lkast week but my Firefox grabbed it.

But GR can shut the site down for a week for arguments ie like the other September.

They could shut the site down but the problem is now that they would lose too much money from new members and ITV don't like losing profits.

Uggers Report 3 Feb 2008 19:40

That's just being picky, Peter - a blanket message to all members would do the job as you know and GR are quite capable of managing that. A notice on the boards would just be a courtesy.

As you say, only a small percentage use the boards so we're not likely to know how great the problem is, which also begs the question why GR aren't dealing with this more professionally. None of the members who don't use the boards will be seeing the apparent relay service going on between GR and random members.

And does it really matter how many people have the problem? If this site is causing a problem to even the number who have posted on the boards saying so, it should be dealt with.

Merlin38 Report 3 Feb 2008 19:40

As some posts are removed by administrators, reckon we can safely assume GR staff read the threads, and should therefore know that a significant number of members are very much less than happy.

InspectorGreenPen

InspectorGreenPen Report 3 Feb 2008 19:29

Sue,

That is assuming that this is the cause, as I said, no one knows at the present time.

No site manager with 7,000,000 members is going to shut down on the basis of a few people reporting problems.

Incidentally, have you had any problems, and if so, have you reported them?

InspectorGreenPen

InspectorGreenPen Report 3 Feb 2008 19:23

Uggers, even if they did, I guess that less that 1% of members would see it. Only a tiny percentage of members ever even look at the message boards.

Secondly I also question how many people actually have a problem?

Given the way that viruses work, it is always possible that the GR site is a trigger for something that was planted previously.

Sue In Yorkshire. Report 3 Feb 2008 19:22

Peter

We can't all work together because we are not all computer buffs.
It's up to GC/GR to get it fixed and I for one am getting sick of GC/GR not having the guts to hold their hands up and say *it's our fault*

What GC/GR should do is SHUT the site down completely until they have talked to the advertising agency/agencies about which advert is causing the Virus/trojan and then remove that advert completely.

Sue

ps GC/GR already have IT TEAM which keeps the site up to date so why can't they get on to the advertising agency and sort the problem out.

pps and how does anyone know how many is in the GR team????

Jan From Bristol Report 3 Feb 2008 19:19

Tooooo blinking right they should Uggers - this is terrible - ok they may only have a small ammount of staff but they can surely afford to get an IT blokey in over the weekend to sort it - this all beggars belief!!!!!!!!!!!!!
