I would very much appreciate some help with my Dobbin line . . my 2xgtgrandparents were Leonard Dobbin and Alithea Maria Graham. Leonard was born 1815 in Belfast, had one sib that we know of named Samuel, born ca 1820.
Their children were Margaret Isabella b Belfast 23 Feb 1845 (M James Ogilvie 12 Oct 1864), Leonard b 25 July 1851(married Sara Clough Paul"Sally"), Helen born ca 1841 (married Abraham Harty), and Alfred Graham Dobbin born ca 1843 (later Sir Alfred Dobbin) married Margaret Ogilvie, sister of James above.
The parents of Leonard Dobbin 1815 were ?? Dobbin & Margaret Cochrane (born ca 1784).

I have some old letters written by Margaret where other Dobbin names are mentioned but have been unable to identify their relationships.
I wonder if any BMD records are available, to confirm dates.
thanks for offering to help.

Lol , I'm pretty lucky not having any Smiths or Jones , so i suppose the McConnell & Riley will make up for it .
Susan , do you know if the Irish marriage cert gives the same info , ie Parents names etc ?
Thanks Karen

Hi Karen,

Sorry, but it only has Northern Ireland
Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Londonderry,Tyrone...including Belfast etc

There are some Catholic entries but Dublin isnt one of them I am afraid as it is the Republic of Ireland ( South)
