Rom, Ive recommended a few people to take up that incredible offer recently and Ive put the link to it on the threads - have a look back a few pages for software headings (Im too lazy to do it, waiting for my bed). They had trouble finding it on the play.com site - hence me putting a direct link to the item. But if you go there and enter family tree in the search box it comes up. Its silly not to get it at that price - the months ancestry is worth more than that.

Hi there. I launched my website yesterday but it does not show my tree - its offering my research services. I am very proud of it and it was sooo easy to do through Fasthosts. Just google it. My site costs about £3 a month. It's a great service. Its at www.familytree4u.org.uk if you want to look what I managed to do as a total newby to all that IT stuff. I am going to do my own tree next.

Hi RS

Yes, FTM is an excellent family history program and it's one of the most popular. Even if you don't use it for the website, it's well worth getting. I had it for Christmas a few years back and have already updated it twice!

Sorry all, had visitors over so have only just read my replies. *Thankyou, very appreciated! WDYTYA Ftm sounds amazingly good value! I might buy that tomorrow.

I have my own website through my family treemaker 2006 - its dumbo proof and free. You just click next a few times and it appears. To update it, its again just a case of clicking on internet tab and update my home page and then a few clicks and all your new stuff appears on it.

You can have it password protected so just you and your invited people can view it (from anywhere in the world) or like me - have it open to google search and get contacts coming through from it.

Glen Tinsel has one too and its beautiful, much more detailed than mine, he has even added video clips. You can have a look at mine if you want but Glen's is even more impressive (????)

Oh, Chris, you can get the WDYTYA version of ftm for £5.99 at the mo, from play.com including pp and 30 days ancestry - bargain or what!

Hi RS

"Your Family Tree" magazine carries a regular advert for a web hosting company and I've been considering it because you can put other stuff on besides your family tree. It's just a few pounds a month. This is the address:

I would think the easiest and cheapest way is to buy a copy of Family Tree Maker, the 2006 version is available for under £10.

You will be able to make a copy of your tree on here or tribal and transfer it to FTM. It has the option of setting up your own web page which, apparently, is very easy to do....Just a few clicks.....Although I must admit Ihaven't done it myself yet.

Heather Positive Thinker I know has done so and hopefully she will see this and be able to tell you more.

website, has anyone got one? Where do you start? Are there certain companies its better to go with? I only want a little site to put my tree on, plus around 60 photos. I do have my tree on Tribal Pages, but would prefer my own thing.
