no... Just looked again at his daughter's marriage cert (1882) doesn't say he is deceased.

Thanks Jim but I believe he died before the 1871 census because at that time his wife is described as the head of the household and an annuitant (widow's pension?).

Hello
Would anyone with Ancestry worldwide mind looking up Austin Smith born c1832 probably in Liverpool. He was a seaman and later a master mariner travelling between Liverpool and New York. Is it possible to find out the name of his ship too?
