Did the mother of a child need the fathers permission to have his name put on the childs birth certifificate please? |

If they weren't married, I think so. I was born in the eighties and was adopted. My birth parents were not married and I presume he was not there when she registered my birth because only my mother's details are on there. (The photocopied registration of my birth is in my adoption folder.) |

If the parents are unmarried, the father must either be present at the time of registration, or provide a sworn statement acknowledging paternity. |
