My Bonds were from Gravesend late 1700s to first half of 1800s. But they were baptised at St.Georges mostly, but some at St.Peter & St.Paul in Milton by Gravesend. |

HMS Ganges was a training ship so he would have been in England at the time. If you google you should find pictures. I have found records of the ship in a couple of old naval books. It's one of the very old types of ships - fascinating to think they spent time on it! |

I can't find them on the 1891 census but on the 1901 census James gives his age as 45 which would mean he was born 1855/1856 and not 1860. |

Looking at the 1901 image for Isabella - her age might be 34. Ancestry reckon it's 36 - which it might be. An 1867 birth might be right for her ... |

Could James have had a middle name (after his father perhaps)? There is this birth in Gravesend:- |

If he was born in Gravesend - and baptised there - you might find his baptism record online at Medway's site Cityark. Once you get used to searching on the site it's reatively straightforward and would save you £7 for a certificate. |
