Hi, I'm looking to see who was living at 38 Allcock Street, Aston, Birmingham after 1901 and wondered if any kind member has access to the electrol roll for then?

Historical ER's are only available in the main library for the relevant area.

In 1902, the electoral franchise was extremely limited......only males entitled to vote will be listed.

Try contacting the library...........they may be prepared to help

Birmingham Central Library are usually very helpful and have a resident genealogist

A couple of sites specifically dealing with Aston are:

Aston did not become part of Birmingham until 1911 until then it was known as Aston, Warwickshire or Aston Manor, Warwickshire

To the best of my knowledge Aston, Birmingham was never in Staffordshire - my gran was born in Aston and it states Aston Warwickshire on her birth certificate. However there was another village called Aston in Staffordshire itself

Have phoned Mom who grew up in Aston, Birmingham in the 1920's-30's and she agrees Aston was never in Staffordshire and the only Allcock Street she knows of is in Digbeth (about 3 miles away) and that as far as she can remember there was no Allcock Street in the brummie Aston....I am off to Brum on Monday, if there is anything I can look out for you, drop me a pm

The history & geography lesson on Staffordshire will be very usefull and much appreciated, and I've made a note of the sites again I'm sure will come in useful as I've very many ancestors who came from that area.
