Hi Libby,
I think the death for John you posted is a possibilty, I am sending for that cert. tonight and hoping. Not getting too excited as I have already sent for two certs. for him which turned out to be wrong.

Should get it by next Thursday, if it's the right one I'll let you know.
Thanks
Linda

Sorry Libby, I thought everyone had gone to bed so closed down.
1871 Census Mary Ann Arnold 65yrs., Charles 21yrs., John 14yrs. & Ann 13 yrs. all living 36 Dunnings Alley, Bishopsgate, City of London. I don't know what you mean re the citation ref. but the number of the schedule is 219 (in case that's what it is).

Didn't think about perhaps Elizabeth died!!

Don't know where to start on how to discover who these two children were - any ideas??

I would have thought that the additional children on 1871 census could not be hers ... She would have been 50 or just over? I know it's not impossible but seems very unlikely.

Did Elizabeth (1844) die? I know that death registrations were not compulsory at first but cannot remember the year in which they became compulsory which may be why you cannot find her or dad.

On 1841 Census I have the following:
John Arnold 1801, Wife : Mary Ann 1805, Children: John 15yrs. (shown as Josh), Samuel 9yrs., Ann 7yrs. & William 4yrs.

On 1851 Census I have all except John(eldest son) who is now married with 3 children of his own. plus another two children Betsey (really Elizabeth) 6yrs. and Charles 2 yrs.

On 1861 Census all that is left is John 1801, wife Mary Ann 1805 and Charles now 12yrs. I have found all have got married except Elizabeth who would still only be 16yrs. so where has she gone?

On 1871 Census Mary Ann 1805 is now a widow although I can't find a death registered for John 1801, son Charles 21 yrs. and now a son John aged 14yrs. and a daughter aged 13yrs. I can't find out who these two children are, any ideas please.

Also can anyone see a marriage for Elizabeth Mary Arnold 1844. I do have a number of possibles but would like to narrow them down before I start ordering a lot of wrong certs.

Thanks anyone in advance.
