you have always had upto 6 weeks to register a birth, but sometimes people could not afford to register within that time so some births were registered late, but a late registration should appear on the register in the quarter that the event was actually registered with a note/reference to the register for the quarter that the event should have been registered and that register would have the entry added at the bottom of that page |

Their was no formal process for adoption untill about 1926/27 and then the child would not have been re-registered onto the normal birth register. |

Hi Porkie Pie - thanks so much for the info. Just so I know for future reference, Is it unusual to have such a gap before registering a birth back in 1907 - did they not have the limits they have now? Karen |

I guess that could be it if a re-registration due to the adoption? I don't really know much about adoption and how the process goes. It may have changed between then and now too. |
