Can anyone help. How can I find the first marriage of my Father (who is deceased) when all I know is he was divorced prior to 1966. I have no idea when or where or even who he married, but I think it would have been after 1939 and before 1952. Can someone give me any pointers. Thanks Vanesa |

Sometimes a later marriage certificate of a divorced person will say .....previously the husband of..etc. |

Your best hope would be to track down the divorce and obtain the papers. The wife's name would be on them, and possibly the name(s) of any child(ren), if there was a custody issue. |

You should be able to look at the bmnds...called the GRO now, previously St Catherine's Index, at your local records office or large library. If your father's name is fairly uncommon it will be easier...otherwise take lots of coffee and biscuits! Do you know where he micght have been living? |

Hi Reggie, I shouldnt worry, it is an odd question, probably something I should have been told years ago. |
