COUSINS ON GR TREE

Am very fed up now. I know that it is not possible to marry off the people in question when they are cousins - AND - I now have the two lines showing separately - with a note on the duplicate - but the two sisters who caused the problems in the first place had three other siblings - and of course their parents - I do not want to duplicate their siblings and parents so what do others do? Do I just follow the one line? How confusing will this be for anyone else looking at the tree? Feel like throwing the PC out of the window at the moment.

Sorry - had to get that off my chest!

Jill,

Do you have Family Tree Maker or some other simnilar software on your PC? If so, do your tree correctly on that and then import it to Genes, it seems to allow you to do it that way.

Otherwise, duplicate one of the sisters (making a note what you have done) and then follow her parents etc on the record of her that is with her sisters - if that makes sense...

You shouldn't need to duplicate the siblings and sisters at all.

Thanks for this.

I keep the details on my PAF file online and that lets me marry off cousins so it's great.

I think I will try and follow the oldest one which seems sensible - thank you.

I didn't know GR would merge them - that would be really good - I will try that too (fingers crossed!)

Many thanks

I'm calming down a bit now - I was going slightly potty a while back!!

If you have your tree on PAF, can't you import your PAF file into GR?

I used Family Search PAF to sort this out

Thank you all - I'm a bit wary of importing my PAF file - partly because it has all my info whereas this tree only has the very basics and partly because my PAF file is in two bits - mine (including my One Name Study names) and my OHs whereas this tree has everyone on it.

Life sure gets complicated!!

You could make a copy of your PAF file with a different name, delete all the people you don't want to show on GR, and export the file without the notes.

Oh Mary - that would take ages though - I tried doing that when I wanted to do my One Namers separately - in the end decided it was easier to add them to the existing info.

I think I will ask GR to see if they can merge them ...

This question should remain a sticky until GR software can cope with Cousins marrying cousins.

Come on GR - make it a sticky
