Hi Ann did you find Joseph Bate in the 1841 census? Wow it has been 8 or 9 years since this was posted.

No, no WW1 pensioners. have spent all afternoon searching for somebody else on here so haven't had time to go back and look. She appears to have disappeared now so have stopped that but now it is time to get the dinner!!!!! There is always something isn't there?

There are some parish and court records on there you know! and pallots marriages and do you have any WW1 soldiers who may have a pension record on there - which are wonderful, pages of info sometimes (sadly all mine were navy, not army).

But do have a look around.

Hi there Ann, thanks for the pm and I am very pleased for you.

Ancestry is a wonderful resource and I think a lot of people dont realise all the facilities that are on there - spend some time looking at all the different records on there - scroll down and look at them.

Re putting your tree on there - its up to you, Ive not done it- Ive got mine on a program on my computer and also on my own website - however you may have found this relative earlier had you put yours on!

Good luck and do have a little play around on ancestry to see ALL the resources they have - its not just census and bmds on there.

The deleted messages - probably someone went to add something and realised it wasnt relevant or it was on the wrong thread or something - nothing to worry about. Its a shame GR change the system, before a deleted message wouldnt have shown on a thread.

Heather, I just wanted to thank you for directing me to ancestry. I found a good contact on the message boards whose Gt Gt Gt Grandmother is my Gt Gt grandfather's sister. she has lots of info which she has sent me, including the 1841 details so again very many thanks. I have had ancestry for 18 months and still don't really know how to get the best from it. at the moment I don't have my tree on there. would you advise it?

I have checked on Ancestry and can't find my Gt Gt Grandfather's sister in 1841. Please could somebody see if I have missed her.

Hannah Bate born 1785 Walsall Stafford married Elisha Whitehouse in 1823 at Sedgeley Staffordshire.

In the 1851 she is a widow and living with her sister Sarah Bate age 60 and her brother Joseph Bate age 53 in Essington Staffs.

In 1841 Sarah is living with her elderly father Joseph Bate aged 80

I haven't found the younger Joseph yet but am still looking. would appreciate another pair of eyes.
