I've been doing my tree for a few years now but don't have many photos of anyone earlier than my grandparents. |

I had one sent to me of my gran and her 2 brothers and sister when she was aged 16ish and i had never met her as she died when my mum was pregnant with me and i am the spitting image of her. Also i got some pictures of 3 lots of grt grandparents and still have to find the last lot but that one looks a bit tricky. All of people on genes reunited. |

Old photos are so wonderful. I have photos of my parents, grandparents, gt grandparents and 7 or 8 of my gt gt grandparents plus the siblings of quite a few of the gt grandparents, and their children as well. This is probably because when my gt grandparents (all 4 sets) came to NZ their families kept in touch and exchanged photos at Christmas. The photos date from about 1870 onwards, although at least one is earlier, taken the day before one set of gt grandparents set sail for NZ in 1864. It shows gt gt grandfather with his 3 sons and their wives, and 1 daughter, the infant son of my gt grandparents (he died on the boat coming out), the mother of one of the sons wives, and 2 workmates of my gt grandfather. I know who they all are because another relative had an older print of the same photo with all the names on the back. A real treasure. |
