Just because a relative gave birth in the workhouse didn't mean they were an inmate. They could just be taken into the infirmary to give birth. The Fulham Union Infirmary was very big and not just for inmates. My nan was born here in 1886 and her mum worked nearby as a cook at a vicarage, just went in there to have nan. |
