My father's mother died when he was only 4 years old. His parents never married and he was raised by his father and paternal grandparents. His mother was never mentioned so he knew nothing about her. |

Have you found the registry of your father's mother's death? This should give you her age at death, provided the informant got it right. |

It would only confirm that Irene is the person that i have been researching unless one of my father's family was the imformant which i think is unlikely as i dont think they had any contact after my father was born. |

Thanks Lynn that is the family i have been researching have had contact with the family but get the same reply yes Irene is a member of the family but no-one knows anything about her . I have done as you have and assumed that this is my Irene and have traced the family back to 1600's but cannot get confirmation that this Irene had a baby boy in 1924 and died in 1928 see my dilemma. |

My grandfather was born in Boston in 1904 name Harold Marriott . I dont know about Irene being a cripple i would have thought that my dad would have at least known about that but it was on the 1901 census as you have pointed out .I suppose the only conclusion i can make is that this is my grandmother and hope some-one out there in the family will contact me one day . |

It's such a sad story. Please keep us up-dated. I'm hoping that she is your Irene because then she'll have her place in your tree and won't be forgotten. |

Maybe the addresses on the birth and death certificates will match up. |
