Just realised he was listed on the 1901 census as occupation railway painter reservist, so could the John J Lewis you found be the one? |

There is a John J Lewis on Ancestry WW1 Pensions but he is in the Labour Corp and was unfit for service so not the right one. |

No, you may find a good bit on that sort of era. If you need a reliable and reasonable military researcher for Kew, I can give you a really good one. |

His service records, if they survive, would be at National Archives, Kew. You would have to go there, or get someone to go for you I can recommend a researcher, if you want to follow this up. |

The only information i have about my gt grandfather is that he was named John J Lewis and was in the 2nd Battalion Staffordshire Regiment and in 1891 they were based at Curragh Camp Kildare. I also know he was born about 1868. Can anyone give me any help or advice I have tried Staffordshire Regiment museum and they have no records and gave little help. |
